Well, exactly how many of these fanfics have you not read?
@Story: I'm pretty much an amateur of amateurs when it comes to art, but my method was to just pick a simple pose (like a profile shot of a pony standing motionless) and then just copy it from a refrence picture until you get the basic shapes down, and then start using slightly more complicated poses (3/4 shots, ponies that are moving) as you go. No clue how helpful it is, but that's what I'm doing.
Oh, I never got far enough in the video to see that part. I just thought the song was stupid and repetitive.
You should watch the whole thing. It's not that repetitive.
Well, watch the pony version. The official music video uses a different cut of the song which isn't quite as good (it cuts out the violin solo and the part about talking birds); the pony version uses the whole song.

Did you use any of those drawing guides that have appeared?
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
What band sings that song?
If you're talking about "Frontier Psychiatrist" that's by the Avalanches. And they didn't "sing" the song so much as construct it from samples.

@Story: I briefly looked at one or two to get the back legs figured out (They are the bane of my existence as an artist), but other than that they're either not that helpful, too advanced for where I am, or they focus primarily on digital art, which is useless to me. That and when it comes to stuff like this I tend to prefer working it out for myself. There are a few that are relatively useful, but by and large I tend to just copy existing art; I remember stuff like body shapes a lot better if I learn it by experience rather than being told what the proportions and stuff are.
If I could draw, I'd probably make art for computer games.

I like the fact that the show has pointedly avoided giving any of the Mane Six romantic partners... But if they were to suddenly reverse that policy by giving Rainbow Dash a coltfriend, the fandom outcry would be something to behold. I would have to approve.

I talked to this really nice artist at comic con. He had a lot of his art on display, and I mentioned that I wished that I could draw so I could make comics, and he was like, there are plenty of artists out there who need stories to tell if you can find them, and I was like, woah, man, that's deep.
We had Hearts and Hooves day, and besides, most of the time, romance plots just annoys me.
@Applelight: I think the show could do it, but there are roughly a billion things that I'd prefer them to cover before they get to that. I'm just not interested in seeing the show cover that territory.
I mean, Shiny and Cadence is more than enough for me. I just don't often get invested in that kind of plot.
I thought the idea of some pony getting crush on Pinkie, and her not being interested (thus leading to her being chased for once) might be a good idea.
Tealove is best pony.
