@Kegi Actually, clouds are only frozen in the very upper parts of the atmosphere as cirrus clouds, which are those light, wispy, translucent clouds. The average cloud is still composed of liquid water suspended in the air. I don't really think that Cloudsdale itself is that high off the ground, either. It only took Rarity a short time to reach the ground while falling.

As mentioned last page, all three races can have a degree of protection from harsh weather.

"Chrysalis" isn't a nickname; it's been used in The Merch.

Also due to The Merch, Lauren Faust's pony actually became an official Canon Foreigner (though the shirt she appears on is no longer available)

@Ace: But Kegi is right that they were dressed for the cold in the weather factory, so cold isn't exactly a natural state for them.

I reckon it would be comfortably cool up there though.

Well, good point :V

I wonder if Lauren leaves her Fausticorn plushie at home to comfort her family? :3

Another point is that the altitude of Cloudsdale is probably just as adjustable as its location. That could easily act as a city-wide thermostat if needed.

You know, one of my favorite moments in the finale has to be Rarity throwing a right hook.

Considering what she did in Sisterwhooves Special and Ponyville Confidential, it is pretty safe to say that she is physically capable enough.

Good morning everypony. What's going on?
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

So would it have a sort of cockpit, or would they just take Cloudsdale and push it somewhere else?
Perpetual Lurker avatar
#269611
They probably just push it. Hurricane Fluttershy stated that it picked up water from different towns and cities each year, meaning that it would have to be at least somewhat mobile.

They could have a bunch of Pegasi with the specific task of moving the city around with carefully controlled bursts of wind.

@ Lurker: Alternatively the towns move to Cloudsdale.

Now THAT I would pay to see. Carefully calibrated shockwaves?

Interesting random thing I just thought of. If their planet does not rotate, then the pegasi never have to account for the Coriolis Effect like they would have to in our world. That probably reduces the complexity of tending to the weather immensely.

Now I want to see a fanfic where the Flim-Flams return with a chess engine.

It'd probably be like the Mechanical Turk.

@Lurker: Science makes my head hurt, but from what I can glean, it has something to do with the movement of air?

Pegasi move clouds around all the time. No wind needed.

@Yeller: Yeah, that's what I thought too [lol]

AJ strode up to the machine despite Flim's protests, and flipped it with a mighty buck. Flam was seated at a complex set of controls with a most shocked expression.

@yeller: I dunno, Clousdale looks like it has a lot of parts. That may take some coordination, however you do it.

Now I wonder if it would be possible to do Colony Drop with Cloudsdale.
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.

Only if you drop a solid wall of water straight down. Clouds have less mass than most cushions.
