Sorry to just hop in and blab something random(I know I've been doing that a lot recently, due to lack of free time with a job and all), but something's occurred to me the other day:
So when a cloud makes percipitation, due to altitude it's always snow first - it melts and becomes rain as it falls if the lower air is warm enough. This, of course, means that it's really cold up at cloud level. Basic weather, right? RD even says that upper altitudes get chilly in Dragonshy.
But here's the thing: It's very clearly NOT cold in Cloudsdale - The girls and the citizenship are abole to walk about without any clothes to speak of. You can make the case that Pegasi are naturally insulated, but the others? Plus, we see that the weather workers making snowflakes ARE dressed for the cold.
Which points to Cloudsdale being temperature-controlled, which is... rather significantly harder than weather control, I should think.
I wonder if they just settle on a year-round temperature, or if they have their own seasons? They're above the weather line, so there's really no reason for them to subject themselves to cold OR heat if they don't need to, so Cloudsdale could realistically be like, Paradise all year round.
I consider this because I'd been wondering how somepony born and raised in Cloudsdale would adapt to ground-life, and I got to thinking about how it might be really hot because of them being used to the cold upper atmosphere, but then.. well, all this.
