I managed to get my brother to go from "Yeah let's never talk about that (or anything else 4chan is obsessed with) ever again" to saying that he thought it seemed like a decent cartoon, without actually forcing him to watch it. I think that was a reasonable achievement.

TBH, I wasn't really sold on it until episode 3.

Like I said earlier, we're still doing really well in terms of a wholesome to creepy ratio here. And I mean, it's not as if the bad stuff is pervasive - It doesn't show up here, or on Equestria Daily, and barely on ponobooru, so we can just ignore it if it's so offensive.

The way I get people to tolerate when I'm watching is to actually have the volume on. Eventually, they may hear a joke they like and get curious. So don't force them to watch an entire show. If anything, get them to watch a PMV of the series. That should get things going.

See, it's the Derpy ships that surprise me. I don't have a problem with it, really. I read the Derpy/Luna one, and it was kinda cute, it's just kinda funny. Spikexanyone seems weird to me, though.

It's kinda funny that it doesn't take into account any of the side character ships. Like, there was a shipfic between the hairdresser from 'green isn't your colour' and the bulky pegasus with the football cutie mark from 'sonic rainboom', which was actually pretty good.

Yup, that was the one.

It actually astounds me how cute I find the shipfics in this fandom. Considering I'd never read any fanfiction before this, I think after the first one I read I sat back and thought, 'what the hell has this show done to me? I just read a story about two ponies named bright eyes and honey muffin, and found it touching.'

This show helped me realize that I find romance to be the cutest and most desirable thing in the world.

...Well, actually, the show helped me to realize how much all my friends mattered to me. The fandom helped with all that mushy stuff.
