I've never heard of that one. But I guess there are lots of memes I've never heard of.

I finished Portal today on a (low-quality due to Xbox setup) livestream. I bought Portal 2 (well, mom did, but I paid her back :P) and started playing the first few chambers~

[up]If I wasn't saving my money, I'd get both Portals.

How much have you had the plots spoiled?

I wound up getting both Portal games on Steam a while back for like $8 total.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've spent more than about $6 on a single game since I went on Steam.

Post of the Day #101

@ed That brings up an interesting point on the subject of magical hybrids. Many fantasy settings simply have hybridization simply be a function of the creatures being inherently magical. This setting doesn't really have much of a precedent for that kind of hybrid, though... Except for the Griffins. They are half eagle, half lion, after all. Do we take their existence as an indicator that magical hybrids are possible, or do we simply assume that they occurred naturally?

Edit: Forgot about the Manticores and Cockatrices, though I forget what their classical mythological origins are.

@Gex Glad you enjoyed Kid Icarus. If you stay on that screen after the credits for a few minutes, Hades starts talking about the afterlife and threatens to delete your save.

@Portal My friend got me Portal when he bought Portal 2, and I beat Portal 2 at his house.

@ Story

Considering in WAAPT we had a miniarc based on Portal 2, the main story is pretty much completely spoiled, though I don't know all the details. Also, it runs rather poorly on this laptop :|

Pretty much everything more taxing than Spelunky runs poorly on my laptop.

Hi everybody!

I started playing Super Mario World again. It is incredibly hard, even using an emulator and saving liberally.

How did I even manage to win it when I was ten or so, and on a SNES?

Or maybe you just played more video games back then.

Maybe you're off your game?
Do it, Rockapella!

Are you using a controller or the keyboard?

I find some games are just a lot harder to play using the keyboard instead of a normal controller.

@Mario World I actually beat that game on an SNES recently, but I had to save scum using the ghost houses and 1up grind to do that. Not to mention I was 2 levels away from 100% completion, but the save data got lost, along with my interest.

I beat that thing fully on the orignal SNES, including the Special world.

Ok I beat the hardest world in that via a blue Yoshi, but still.

Ever played Ecco The Dolphin? If you take the 'normal' route, City of Forever is basically impossible, even on an emulator. I wonder what people did back in the day.

Yeah, that's probably it. Ten Years Old Me is very much disappointed in myself today, though tongue

The Second Reality Project sounds cool, in any case. Perhaps I should give it a try.

Ecco is a bit too cerebral for my tastes.

Also, I remember someone back in the WA thread asking why I (13 years old at the time) was so interested in games that were older than I was. I have to cite the answer as "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection". A gateway into a great, much different era of gaming for a mere $30.

No. Didn't know her. She was in a bad car accident about 20 years ago. She had the mental capacity of a two year old.

Saw her once. Creepy as hell.

Well...

I don't even know what to say about that.

I guess I'll say that I can emphasize, since I was volunteering in a retirement home/care center for two days, and I saw some Down Syndrome victims.
