Meh, I'm use to seeing pictures based off of drama being used for sad/dark things, or attemps at it. Even before mlp fim was made, I saw that kind of stuff all the time, like retarted Sonic the hedgehog voice actor drama for instance.

I'm okay with the voice itself, although it's not synced very well with the scene. I just don't like that, when the representation of a possibly disability is problematic, the answer is now to stop characters with possibly disabilities from ever appearing on television. There was probably a better solution. :|
I don't want to get into the war that's going on, though. I've been seeing pieces of it (I have a Tumblr) and it's...not good.

The better solution would have been for Derpy to show up more in the foreground as an obvious contributing member of the community. I mean, the chaos she causes in her scenes (speaking or not) is kind of par for the course in Ponyville and absolutely peanuts compared to the shit the main cast stirs up on a regular basis.

Winter Wrap Up is my favorite song. Probably because that was the moment for me that turned it from "surprisingly fun series" into something incredible that I hadn't seen since Disney in the 90's.
#9956HaldoSat, 25th Feb '12 7:47:18 PMfrom SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
The first time I heard Winter Wrap Up I was just like "Egad why are they breaking in to song??"
But now I like it.

My favorite song is still Sweetie Belle's version of "Hush Now, Quiet Now". First time in the show I ever had a "Holy Crap that was awesome!" reaction to a song.
#9958marstonSat, 25th Feb '12 7:55:55 PMfrom America
Eeeyup, that was pretty much my reaction as well. As for what my favorite song is, I'm not exactly sure, but I really like Smile Smile Smile, Winter wrap-up, At the gala and becoming popular. I don't think I can pick a favorite actually.

Hush Now, Quiet Now is definitely one of my favorites, because it was funny
I think my all-time favorite is Becoming Popular.

I like "The Kind Of Pony Everypony Should Know" the best thus far, though the Pet Song and "GOTTA SHARE GOTTA CARE!" comes close.
Gay, Autistic, Nerd, Gamer, Gleek, Brony, Writer, Fan, Master Of The Ever Changing Avatar, Mad Man.
I am in fact awesome.
#9961CrowindSat, 25th Feb '12 8:09:29 PM
"Becoming Popular" is good and catchy, but the lyrics just make me want to laugh every single time. Or facepalm.
I wish there's more of Sweetie singing in the lines of Hush Now Quiet Now. Her singing voice actress is so good, it's a shame that the Hearts and Hooves song doesn't make use of her talent.

Sweetie's singing voice is unbelievable.

Sweetie's talent = singing
Scoot's talent = probably racing
Apple Bloom's talent = probably building

Pretty much. Now if only they would stop being so desprete to find their cutie marks, they likely would have gotten them by now. But, kids will be kids I suppose.

"Becoming Popular" is my favourite FIM song. I think I wrote a top-5 list for this thread at some point, but I can't remember the exact picks I had for it. "Art of the Dress" was #2 or #3, though.

So like, the three of the last four episodes so far have had elaborate musical numbers. This is awesome, and I'm hoping Fluttershy gets another one next weekend.

Also, in light of the recent drama, I urge everyone to send the staff thank yous. I can tell you that regardless of what happened, Derpy was a pretty damn unusual degree of outreach to the fans from any production (for starters, using fan-influenced material like that is really legally shaky). The kind of shit people on the pony team have been getting over this is unacceptable, especially seeing how
1) Not a whole lot you can do when angry network/Apple execs give an order, and
2) Of everyone involved they've gotta be the ones hurting the most, seeing how it was their gift, and their hands that got bitten and necks stuck out over it.
Also, wat

I have no real opinion about the issue.
But this was impressive:

I dunno. The fan-voice-actress started to cry for reals when recording that.
I think that signifies she's a little bit too emotionally attached to this issue.
#9973CarciofusSun, 26th Feb '12 1:35:42 AMfrom Canterlot
I dunno. As I said, I do not really care about the issue either way: I thought that Derpy was a nice touch, but if some people took offense and they decided to remove that part from the itunes video it's no skin off my nose.
But that video was nice, I thought — yeah, it gets way too dramatic, but that's part of what makes it interesting. And both the animation and the voice acting are great for a fan video.

If that's the voice actress I think it is, I remember seeing her tumblr a while back and she does indeed have some issues.
Still, training yourself to cry on command is a thing in acting, so that's not always a clear indicator. I mean hell, even I've got a good enough handle on what my triggers are to be able to pull off a more subdued scene with the right buildup, and there were two people in my theater group that were absolutely awesome at it. One of them wound up being the most heart-wrenching Tevye I've ever seen.
Basically, the trick is the same one for all the rest of acting: have good control of your brain, so you have to do as little acting as possible.

I'm following her tumblr, and when she first posted that rant, she said she cried for reals.
