Fluttershy as a turret is frighteningly appropriate.

Trixie could be the Fact Core, perhaps.

I'm considering giving the Space Core position to one of the Cutie Mark Crusaders, but I don't know which one. I'm leaning towards Scootaloo.

If every fandom were defined by it's memes, I think it could accurately be said thtat I would hate everything ever. I bring this up because I'm kind of starting to see why anti-bronies who aren't familiar with the actual show seem to be so peeved with us.

But then again, most Anti-Bronies are just trolls who see our liking this show as a reason to mock us.

My brother's argument alternates between "gay for liking a show for girls" and "immature for liking a show for young children". Both of which are based on gender and age stereotypes and prejudices against the My Little Pony franchise that stem from the reputation it garnered from Generations 1 through 3. I think I should show him Lauren Faust's defense to a recent Anti-Brony comment on deviantArt. Could somepony transcribe it for me, cause I can't get to it from here. (damn security filter)

From what I can tell, anti-bronies fall into two camps:

  • Trolls: These are your garden-variety "OMG its gay" and "hey stupid stop watching kiddy shows" kinds of reactions.
  • Frustration: They hold no malice towards the show itself, but get pissed off by how ubiquitous it is and how the fans gush about it and shoehorn it in everywhere.

The first group we can just ignore. The second group is a bit more sympathetic.

The second group has a damn good reason, if you ask me.

Because honestly, some bronies just won't shut the fuck up about the show.

That's kind of true. I mean, I love how bronies pretty much overlap with every other nerdy fandom now, but I can see how some bronies might feel the same way a high school student involved in a group project on Napoleon Bonaparte would if all of their study mates talked continuously about Napoleon Dynamite.

[up][up][up]Some people from the second group are sympathatic, some are not. I already know of one person from that group who's a gigantic asshole who just seems to be using it as an excuse to bash bronies and the show itself.

Also, How and why did the new episode get posted early?

Dunno. EQD said that Hasbro asked it not to link to the leak, though, so it probably was not voluntary.

I'm waiting until Saturday anyway myself, in any case — I'd rather watch it in the hi-res version.
But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

[up][up]For me at least, the line is basically where people start holding the actions of the fans against the show itself. I can totally agree that the fans go overboard; it annoys me a lot of the time. But still, I think the anti-fans go too far in the other direction sometimes. Like how some guys over in image pickin' try to automatically reject any pony-related pictures solely on the basis of source regardless of how good the actual image is.

As far as the leak goes, the prevailing theory seems to be that somebody on itunes screwed up the release date. They uploaded the episode early, but accidentally set the release date to February 11, 2011 rather than 2012, so it became purchaseable as soon as it was put up.

So apparently we have a Daring Do page now.

Hmmm, this isn't the first time I've seen a page for a work that doesn't exist...

Of course, the primary difference here is that Brinner was made up from whole cloth rather than being a Book Within A Show.
