Well, they probably live in the same town, and Ponyville does not strike me as particularly huge. So there are good chances, I think.
Although it
would be funny if they did not know each other, and, due to other ponies always confusing the one for the other, Derpy would get all offended at ponies calling her ditzy and Ditzy would get equally offended at ponies saying that she's derpy...

It's shocking how Dash is willing to go to extreme measures to get what she wants. First eating cider-soaked dirt, now stealing a book from a hospital.
But Ninja Dash is still awesome, though. Even with an injured wing.
