Apparently, I may never own a "Have a Derpy Day" shirt, but I have no idea whose house(s) to egg.

Ginger has a way of blowing an issue like that way out of proportion (though I think half of it is just unnecessary exaggeration), but he doesn't seem to blow up at other people, so it's not too bad.
I took a guess and cut a portion out of my heart.
He said, "That's nowhere close enough, but it's a damn good start."

Although, Jimmy is pretty high functioning, but it's never implied there is anything mentally disabled about him, only physically.

Okay, just to update on the Derpy situation: the prevailing theory for why all the "Derpy" stuff is being taken off itunes or whatever is because Hasbro is trying to secure copyright for the name, and they have to hold off on merch and whatnot until the kinks are ironed out. I have no clue how accurate that is, but given that the general reaction to Derpy was primarily positive, it makes a heck of a lot more sense than believing that they caved to a pretty small minority of the fans.

And yeah, Ginger tends to take general fandom trends kinda personally, especially when Applejack is involved. He's just very vocal about his frustration.

[up] Yeah, that makes sense.

Thought experiment: Imagine if some fan had copyrighted "Derpy Hooves" last summer.

The name belonged to the Bronies in the first place.

...so Hasbro shouldn't use it?

Urgh, Drama.

It's a children's show, for chrissakes. Grow up.

Hasbro makes it for little girls, if you don't like something they do, ignore it or just stop watching.

I'm Sorry. I had no idea that the info was discredited. I just got pissed off at how dumb people were being over it. Again, sorry.

Fair enough on takedowns getting discredited, and Ginger's kind of a tool sometimes. Still, the "ableist" bullshit flying around about that was pretty cringeworthy.

You forgot TIMMMY!

Actually, I left him out on purpose, seeing how South Park's explicit goal is to piss people off.

South Park is first and foremost a comedy show. just like Family Guy. Which you included. If south park tries to offend people, so does Family guy.

Well let's face it, they both do try to offend people. It's just that south park usually attacks both sides of a major or minor arguement.

I'd also like to note that while I've seen a lot of posts about how Derpy is potentially offensive, I've only seen a handful of people who claim to actually be offended by her. I mean, there have been way more "Some people might be offended by this" comments compared to actual "I am offended by this" responses. In general I think the issue has been blown way out of proportion.

Also, I'm not entirely familiar with South Park, but from what I have seen it seems to be part Refuge in Vulgarity and part satire; Timmy is almost certainly supposed to be some sort of comment on the mentally disabled are portrayed, not just a character who happens to be mentally handicapped just for the sake of a joke. But again, I'm not really that into the series and I might just be blowing smoke. But back to ponies.
