^^I don't think that'll be the case, really. I expect Luna is really sorry for what she did (even if it was only debatably 'her' at the time), and that she's essentially a regular pony (barring the whole alicorn princess bit) facing what amounts to a thousand years of bad rap.

I wonder how the cast will treat Luna.

No doubt they'll be friendly, but for some reason I doubt they'll be as formal with her as they are with Celestia (or maybe they'll be MORE formal, since the relationship would still be kinda awkward)

Also, I don't see them respecting her as much as they do her sister. (they weren't raised with knowledge of her for one, they never grew up with her as their ruler, and until the Pilot, she was evil)

Everypony save for Celestia will be very awkward, overly formal and probobly a bit scared of Luna, I'd imagine.

As said before, nobody really knows her, they are too used to just Celestia and before episode twos end, she (sort of) was a villain.

Though we still have not gotten a canon explanation how Luna became Nightmare. All we have to go with is that Luna grew jealous because of ponies shunning the night. That's all the show has actually given us. No mention of mind control or anything.

And no, not even Discord did it, Luna helped petrify him before her shared rule with Celestia. It was much longer after that she became Nightmare.

As far as anyone can tell, Luna just snapped and went on a rampage. So it's perfectly justified that others would be scared of her a bit, even if she's nice now, they wouldn't want to upset her out of fear.

And Luna seemed very sorry at the end of episode two, so of course she regrets the whole thing.

Whether or not Luna was in control of what happened, she's going to have to deal with a lot of ponies who think she was responsible. The exact details are probably pretty muddled for the average pony, and Luna taking an apologetic attitude is more likely to get ponies on her side than being defensive about it not being her fault.

^^It's kind of implied that no one even remembered Luna had ever existed until the Nightmare Solstice. I'd guess that ponies' perception of her will be colored by that.

^I'm sure Luna will be apologetic. The first thing she said to Celestia in a thousand years was 'I'm sorry', after all.

Because it's the most likely night everypony is going to stay up late, giving her the biggest audience.

Yes, there are a few ponies who probobly stay up late for whatever reasons, but c'mon, Halloween is one of those nights boys and girls of every age, are going to see something strange and stay up late.

I guess getting up early/staying up late is out of the question then. Girl needs her sleep after all.

I wonder if Nightmare Night is a new holiday, made after Luna came back to make her feel better.

If I were Celestia my first thought would be: "For the love of me we need more night-based holidays!"

But, you know, after the incident, they were celebrating her return in Ponyville. Complete with a pair of children giving her a necklace of flowers.

Because if I was universally reviled by all, I know the best thing to cheer me up is a holiday in my honor celebrating the worst thing I ever did.

Just because it's called "Nightmare Night" doesn't mean it has to do with that.

Well it's apparently about being scary, which makes it an odd choice for reintroducing a princess that most are probably still a little frightened of. "Don't be frightened of my sister! Here's her holiday, which is all about being frightened!"

Unless Luna has a thing for the macabre. Hmm.
