Also, yeah. A monkey is just a flat-faced primate. As such, humans are technically a species of monkey.

Technically, apes are a subtype of monkeys, specifically those without tails.

So we're apes and monkeys.

I love how random threads on this website can be. Cartoon ponies, candy corn and taxonomy...it can only be a thread on TV Tropes.

Someone asked why they have monkeys but no humans and then things got weird.

You only have to go one page back to understand the current conversation.

Honestly, I'd love to make a pegusus, but there's no way I'd get ethical clearance for that. I'd still like to work out how to do it some time though. (Oh, and to obey the laws of physics it would have to be very different from most people's idea of a pegusus.)

We had a talk about why there are monkeys in Equestria but no humans, then we had to explain how evolution works, then we had a scuffle about the definition of 'monkey'. That's basically it.

I hope The sea ponies come over from another country (like Zecorah did)

it would ruin Celestia's design if they hailed from Equestria (she's supposed to combine the traits of all the pony races in Equestria.)

The Sea Pony nation (I call it Oceania) could be a whole seperate country, with it's own customs etc.

Hey, if the creaters went down that route (assuming sps make it into the show in the first place), should they have different, non americian accents to reinforce the fact they are a different culture?
