Edit: Curse, I can't hotlink. Just look up MLP FIM Orion. You will find a Pony with a cutie mark of Orion, the exact same constellation we have.

I like the idea of sea ponies being a separate nation with its own customs and beliefs. That means Celestia doesn't exist in their own origin story- they have their own story. The episode could be about discovering a new world and respecting another society. But we sorta touched on that in Appelooza.

The worst concept ever for a FIM episode:

All the womenfolk in Ponyville watch My Little Human, the super hit girly tv series. However, when people discover that Big Macintosh also watches it, he gets ridiculed. Eventually, everyone learns a lesson about tolerating people's interests.

British accents in general could work. The Mane Cast meet a trio of them;

A cockney, a 'posh' one, and one who sounds like Ringo Star, a la Wakko.

Edit: Austrialian could work too.

Speaking of accents. This does remind me of a discussion I had on a pony channel on IRC.

What if there was a british dub of the show? Just imagine it.. Twilight with a high class Londoneer accent, Spike with Cockney, AJ with something from western britain... It'd be amazing. <3

The sea ponies could have italian accents, to echo their environment being like Atlantis, or near there.
