So speaking of toys, my girlfriend and I were looking through all the MLP stuff at Target and Toys 'R Us... and we came across Lily Blossom. With unique artwork and design.

That's right - not a recolor. An original toy.

We didn't know what to think... besides "Who the hell is Lily Blossom and why does she get this treatment?"

Orange Blossom is a different character; they list Lily Blossom here

But yeah, not only are Lily Blossom, Daisy Dreams, Rainbow Flash, and Star Swirl the only toy-exclusive ponies with original art, but their designs are actually unique—they don't have any recolors, unlike the ponies from the show.

Today is 10/3. Reverse that and you get 3/01, which is equivalent to 3/1. Now tack 10 minus 3 (7) on to the end of that and you've got 3/17, St. Patrick's Day!

Did anyone else notice this when they first saw the episode?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's listed on the episode's Shout Out.

And I finally figured out what is it that bugs me about recolored character art; while all ponies share the same general body style and face, the mane six's hair styles are so unique that when they get recolored, the recolors are too evocative of the original. It's like painting Optimus Prime white and naming him Ultra Magnus, but without the shell to distinguish the character...

I noticed the toys seem to have only 2 earth and unicorn models, and a grand one of a pegasus model. Making all pegasi just Rainbow Dash recolors.
