Eh, MMDW doesn't really cause too much debate anymore, and when it does we all just rattle off our decided opinions on the topic and move on. We've been over it too many times.

Except the difference is we remained rational and made progress.

When was it clear exactly her desire to rise in class had to do with the benefit of everypony exactly? From what I saw as she was rapidly approaching that status she was simply lapping the life of fanciness and almost didn't make Twilight a dress in return.

Unless of course this falls under her character flaw of "Once near accomplishing selfless task, will quickly lose sight of it at the opportunity of selfish gains?"

And none of us went into all caps rage mode either. Or complain about incompatant villains.

Actually Mousa, I think you nailed it right on the head there with her character flaw. Though in this case, the whole thing was a bit more selfish than usual.

I'm inclined to agree with Mousa that Rarity was caught up in the limelight. Of course, she realized this by the end, which is why I love her character.

I enjoy the ham...mixed with her adorable girly moments, like her little 'oohh' when squeezing Spikes cheeks.

Because she felt gaining influence would take her fashion career off the ground, allowing her to make the world beautiful - which she felt was a noble goal that would benefit everyone. Whether or not she's right about that is irrelevant, her intention was still good.

Yeah, she did lose sight of it, and that's her flaw. It doesn't make the whole rise selfish or the sign of a superiority complex, just the sign of being caught up in things a bit too easily. That's always been an aspect of her character even when she's doing good - going all out on her friends dresses, for example.

When Rarity is in, she's all in. She has that much in common with her sister, it seems.

I dare say, I suppose you are right Kegisak, and with that I concede, though I will never truly become a fan of her, I probably at least understand her a bit more.
