Actually he's not a furry, he's just a guy who lamented that ponytails went out of fashion and forcibly imposed it on hapless nightly passersby. I'm not sure what the legal status of that is. The ponyhead and Pokémon Speak is for anonymity (or because he's insane).

well I know they would probably have the Pokémon equivalent of their pets Noctowl, Lillipup, Totodile, Purugly, Chatot, and Buneary

Fluttershy would like pretty much all the Pokemon. Pinkie Pie would love Ludicolo, the dancing pineapple platypus party Pokemon.

Rarity would appreciate Sableye for gem-hunting but quickly be upset by its mischievous nature and tendency to eat gems, while Rainbow Dash would challenge a Rapidash to a race but not before poking fun at Twilight's Rage Mode. Applejack would want to get a Grass-type of some kind to help at the farm, or a strong Fighting type to help with heavy work.

Twilight might want a Pokemon of her own, but Spike would totally get jealous.

Because of Twilight's affinity for Princess Celestia (plus her little Rapidash moment), I always imagined Twilight with Fire Type pokemon
