Why CAN'T friendship be enough? Why MUST one of the mane characters always get into a romantic relationship.

First it's Pip and Homage, then it's Blackjack and Morning Glory

It also leads to extra UBER angst when their love interest is endangered in some way

No Surprise, nopony's actually hurting Sweety Belle. It's just a picture I chose because I felt like it.

I agree with you there. Fuck that. It has no place in that story that I've seen yet. (Only just finished Chapter 6 so don't spoil anything for me.)

It's like "the shipping didn't need to be there." Part of the reason I haven't bothered with the Pony Psychology Series.

@Freeman I beg to differ. I actually preffered Homage and Pip's, honestly.

Well, I am on the part where BJ thought that Glory had died. BJ is annoyingly angsty even at the best of times, I did NOT need that.

Sh wouldn't have gotten that bad if someone besides Glory was in that situation.

@Ginger: Iiiiiiii admittedly am guilty of that in TCYB. Implied shipping Between Blueblood and a minor character(though never made explicit because she was too underdeveloped) and blatant shipping between two minor characters. My next sotry will be completely friendship-based, though! Or, well, friendship-becoming-family based.

I've found though, that even if you don't explicitly include shipping, people will go out of their way to find it. In fact I only hinted at the shipping between Blueblood at the minor character because people reacted that way the first time she appeared. I originally wrote her to just be sort of... like that.

@Pannic RD and Pinkie are seriously together, Rarity plays Shipper on Deck with Fluttershy and an OC (he's a very good OC and I'm ok with it), and AJ has the hots for another OC

I don't recall there being too much angst outside of the nuke drama related to homage. Homage was too much of a badass.

Romance is popular because when done right, it's one of the more powerful forms of character development. The problems come when it's done wrong, which happens a lot.

@CDRW and Pannic: The shipping between RD and Pinkie isn't even that blatant. Its mostly hinted at, but rarely ever brought up directly.
