I concur on Blueblood qualifying as an antagonist. Maybe you should bring up that several people are in favor of this.

I'm not sure if I'm correct here, but part of my argument is that Blueblood is technically more of an antagonist (in terms of directly creating conflict and needing to be overcome) than Trixie was, and if she's allowed to qualify, then so should Blueblood.

Trixie being outed in the end wasn't treated as a victory of any kind, and none of the mane cast even acknowledge her existance after her introduction. Blueblood being confronted is the big payoff to Rarity's part of the GGG

Honestly, how is there any question that he's an antagonist? He directly causes obstacles to a protagonist (Rarity, in this case), and, y'know, antagonizes her.

And makes her smash the slipper, Applejack was going to pick it up and give it to her.

RP: Not really. Trixie is an antagonist. She serves as the primary source of conflict in her episode, by trying to outdo the others. Tiara likewise does nothing but hassle Apple Bloom, making her an antagonist. Blueblood, by comparison, is just a jerk, not an antagonist.

RP: But that alone doesn't make him an antagonist. An antagonist, by definition, is a source of conflict which the protagonist must overcome. Trixie and Tiara fill those roles. Rarity isn't trying to do that, and telling him off at the end isn't an example of defeating an antagonist. Blueblood, like everything else in the episode, only serves as an example of expectations falling short of reality.

My response would be something like "An antagonist is anyone who creates a conflict against the protagonist by means of opposition, even if they themselves are oblivious to it. Blueblood clearly creates conflict with Rarity, even though he's not really aware of it. An antagonist doesn't necessarily need to be a villain. An antagonist could be someone on the same side as the protagonist who just happens to be misguided or ignorant. The only reason the other "not living up to expectations" elements of the episode aren't antagonists are because they aren't characters."

And yeah, note that pretty much everybody in this thread agrees that Blueblood counts. We can take it to the discussion page and vote on it or something.

I'd say take it to the discussion page so the rest of us can weigh in on it. It's not like he owns the page, so everybody disagrees with him we can change it anyway.

I uh, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't include Blueblood as an antagonist. I mean, it's not like he's even looking for Rarity. He just hung out with her and was unpleasant. She was just some random mare hanging around, in his eyes.

OK, so Blueblood acts like a total douche. Confirmed!

Now, he is just ignorant and doesn't know better, giving Rarity a hard time and making her angrier by the moment.

But he never intended on doing that. So that really blurs the line of just being an ignorant douche to antagonizing, and I'm not sure about it, but I think antogonizing needs to be done on purpose.

Yeah, I know I'm kinda taking back what I said, but that's me, I can't stick to one rail of thought the entire way through and shift between them.

So, if Blueblood isn't an actual antagonist, he is a borderline case still.

Antagonists aren't always aelf-aware. Hence why I believe he is at the very least slightly antagonistic or a minor antagonist.

I put him on the Evil Counter Part team in a Fan Fiction, the only other real charterer on it is Trixie
