I've seen enough stuff to know that watching a mane character being smart does not interest me unless they're in contest with another who's just as smart. It's just smething I know.
I've got a bad headache too but at least I'm not feelign too depressed.

Hey remember the fanon that Cadence was formed from the merged CMC?

@Sky I do eventually. doesn't mean I don't find her failure adorable in the meanwhile

ok then, pony related topic.
what would you say is a good episode for someone who's leaning on the wrong side of the fence about Fi M?
I'd say either Party of One or Lesson Zero. reasons being both of them
feature all the mane cast(and spike) in more than cursory roles
handily subvert the notion that the show is just for kids/girls via extensive Sanity Slippage
don't have any musical numbers which may drive away some people

@Blissey Probably Lesson Zero, because it's got the bear scene.

I dislike it when people characterize the situation as being a "wrong" and "right" side question where those who dislike the show are on the wrong side. In any case I think that Sonic Rainboom or Fall Weather Friends could be good points to bring someone in on.

Lesson Zero shows the moral side, AND the funny. It's just great.
I'd also say Over a Barrel, that was great too.

If there's someone who would get turned off by a musical number, WE DON'T WANT THEM IN THIS FANDOM .
But no, seriously, music is too much of a key feature of the show. not liking musical numbers won't kill their enjoyment, but it will significantly reduce it.

Over A Barrel as a first episode?
That could work!

@Drenius: I think he means more along the lines of "people who have the wrong impression of the show". Not so much "people who are wrong because they don't like the show" as "people who have the wrong idea what the show is actually like" and asking for the episodes that would most easily counteract those misconceptions.
To which I'd second the two episodes mentioned, and also put up MM Mystery, as it's a good example of the pop culture references. I'm tempted to say Bridal Gossip as well, but that one works better if you already know the cast members.
Yes, I hated Pinkie's song at first(as in when they where playing it) Then I LMAO when they subverted it with
@ Badwolfwho OBJECTION! It was one of my first episodes, and cemented me into the show.

Of course. Oh, and FYI the fic is currently at ~7000 words. Pinkie is about to make a fudge run.
Also, I don't think Over A Barrel is a great starting point either because 1. I think it's one of the weakest episodes, writing wise, 2. there's too much focus on side characters; the mane cast isn't involved enough and you don't get a good feel for them.
The subverted song is good, but I don't know if that's enough to redeem it as a whole.

If they're willing to sit through 2 episodes. Show em Dragonshy first, I think it gives a good idea of each of the character's personalities. Then maybe show them one of the other episodes mentioned above.
