For Persona 4, I'm wondering something: Does the Shadow determine one's Arcana, or one's personality in general?

other way around, personality determines both arcana and shadow. If my understanding is correct.

@Blue I've seen enough stuff to know that watching a mane character being smart does not interest me unless they're in contest with another who's just as smart. It's just smething I know.

Even in shows like House, House has a worthy mental opponent in the form of Wilson (who is awesome)

@Ginger: About halfway through the first season. He doesn't show up a lot (usually just a few episodes per season), but he's the guy who reliably gets the drop on the protagonists every time he shows up.

@Bluespade, it failed to hold the interest of a fan of the other show i.e. me, and I was highly excited for the blasted thing. No tension, no drama, lazy animation, clumsily rushed through stories, you're better off just reading the damn thing.

@Blissey: that's correct. The shadow is an element of the personality, so it's defined by personality. Same goes for the arcana.

It could also be said the persona is based on the personality, in the same light as the shadow.

@Blue: Well, I might have to give FMAB another shot then. I know it looked really interesting later on.

I could use some recommendations myself. Too many anime now days haven't sparked an interest.

There are definitely good individuals in the police business; it just depends whether your run-ins are with them or the nasty ones. I live in a city that used to top lists of "worst cities in America" and was known for having a corrupt mayor, and any interactions with the police that my family have had have all been decent.

Yeah, but too many of them are. I play the odds. I have issues when it comes to the (American) police.

Unfortunately policing as a career tends to attract some... well, some bruisers and thugs. People who don't really know much but violence, s look to do it as a job.

They also don't tend to be pleased to find out that violence is not what being a cop entails.

Boy, trying to rate the Mane 6 is hard to do, because every single one of them brings something to the table!

Twilight Sparkle tends to be put in first place, and it's not hard to see why. She's The Hero and the leader who keeps the group together, actually has a personality a number of us, especially nerds, can relate to, and has a number of flaws that keep her interesting.
Rainbow Dash would probably be put in second place. She's The Lancer and is the opposite of Twilight in a number of ways. If you're an athlete or go Tomboys, you'll probably like her a lot.
Fluttershy is likely to be put in third place. She's very feminine, and boys usually don't go for feminine. On the other hand, those emotions she keeps bottled up can be terrifying when she releases them!
Pinkie Pie...I would put her in fourth place. She's a Genki Girl, and normally the sort of character I could never relate to. Then again, the episodes "Party of One", "Baby Cakes", and "A Friend in Deed" go a long way of showing that she has depths and flaws that make her interesting.
Rarity, I'm putting in fifth place. She's into fashion, dress-making, and is rather snobbish, which are rather difficult for me to relate to. But she has shown that she tries to balance her generosity and self-centeredness, not to mention the fact that she has gotten a large amount of screen-time.
Applejack, for me, has to be put in last place. Now, don't get me wrong, I like how she speaks with a Southern drawl, harvests apple trees, is generally honest, and all that. She has a little problem with pride, which bit her in the tail pretty hard a couple of times. For me, the problem with AJ is that she is pretty flat compared to the others. She needs to star in some episodes, and try to fix that!
