Found it.

Once upon a time there was a filly who was strong willed and defiant, and whenever her parents said anything to her, she disobeyed them.

What, like she just did the diametric opposite thing?

Reminds me of an episode of fairly odd parents where Timmy wishes to do the opposite of whatever his parents tell him. Then they tell him to be good.

@Pannic It's a LOT darker, but BJ is generally considered more likeable. She angsts like NO OTHER though, and it gets tiresome sometimes, so be warned.

I like them BJ and Pip for different reasons, but I started liking Pip a lot more after she kicks her Mint-Al addiction.

... why don't you like Pip again? Wanting to make the wasteland better but being natrually devious and dark minded is bad?

Well, it was the "cowing your violence-hating friend into helping you murder someone you don't like" thing that made me decide that she was full of shit.

Yes it's short, but that's not all of the story:

One day she said to her parents: "I have heard so much about Bonfire. Someday I want to go to her place. Ponies say such amazing things are seen there, and such strange things happen there, that I have become very curious."

Her parents strictly forbade her, saying: "Bonfire is a wicked mare who commits heinous acts. If you go there, you will no longer be our child."

But the filly paid no attention to her parents and went to Bonfire's place anyway.

As protagonist (with first person narration) Lil P Ip is much better. But if they would be non mane (and narrating) character I'm not sure who would be better.

When she arrived there, Bomfire asked: "Why are you so pale?"

"Oh, " she answered, trembling all over, "I saw something that frightened me."

"What did you see?"

@Pannic Wait, who was that? you mean in Shattered Hoof? That guy was leading an organized Raider operation and was the reason why an innocent girl was traumatized. Notice how she still took issue with doing it. Killing him ends up making the wasteland a better place, everyone involved knew that.

Velvet is a technical pacifist. She's fine with using violence if NOTHING else works, but she just doesn't want to do it herself. She'll help in an way she can, just not by actually fighting. Which is fine in my opinion, not everyone is cut out for killing.

goes way past 'didn't like' what else would you suggest? just let him continue brutaly murdering families becuase they stand up to him? not like there's any jails or law.

How about we have the character who's established as being opposed to killing people actually stand up for her stated moral values instead of, over the course of one conversation, completely changing her tune? Where's the fucking character consistency?

Oh come on, you know as well as all of us that Little Pip is accurately portrayed as what a Messiah in that setting would be like.

yes much better she stays Stupid Good naive waif. And no it is never played up like pip doing this stuff is good, it's made clear it's wrong, but necessary, and that the biggest wrong is that the Wasteland makes it necessary.

Does assassination actually stopped brutal fighting between his forces and Gawn forces? (Or I just can't remember now)

becuase those convictions would get far far more ponies killed in the long run.

@Pannic

Taking issue =/= Not thinking it's ultimately the right thing to do.

BJ gasses everyone she ever cared about in PH. She didn't want to do it, but she thought it was ultimately the right thing to do

Oh, bullshit, she pulls a complete 180 that flies in the face of the established characterization. People don't start a conversation with "this is murder" and end it with "what am I going to wear?" That's shitty characterization.

And Littlepip is still full of shit for making her do it without even asking her ahead of time, then cowing her into doing it, and what's more, she's full of shit with that "the wasteland hadn't done that to me yet" when she can't bring herself to mercy kill that raider later.

@Pannic Wait, I thought she asked Velvet to sing AFTER coming up with the plan, which she improvised while talking to the guy in Shattered Hoof.

And, killing in self defence or killing someone you consider evil is still different from killing someone who's helpless and of no threat to you

Yes, and she only told Velvet after she'd already established the plan with both Deadeyes and Gawd, unless I'm mistaken.

The raider was attacking her. The fuck does she get cold feet then?
