@apple: I replied on that page: I think a villain with an army could, ironically, use loneliness as a really good gimmick. Like he created his army out of shadows for friends, but since none of them are alive they're worthless. So he's trying to conquer equestria so that the ponies will have to be there with him.

Probably a Defeat Means Friendship case, but I think it would be neat if he went the same route as Discord and Chrys - to far gone to really be forgiven.

I actually wouldn't mind more Defeat Means Friendship moments. They did it with Nightmare Moon, and we got Luna out of it.

Hm. The army of shadows is an interesting one. As is the idea of an army of simulacra as they'd have to do as the villain says whereas they'd be unable actual ponies in the manner they influence the simulacra, because ponies have free will.

Nightmare Moon isn't quite Defeat Means Friendship, considering the whole thing about her being possessed/corrupted/what have you. If Nightmare Moon's personality hadn't changed at all after being defeated, I doubt she would be on friendly terms with anyone.
