@Story: Yes, it does. To be honest from what I remember it's only the ending that really departs at all. Beyond that, the plot is pretty consistent with the book.

Even with the departures, though, it's still an amazing movie. I want ot read the book again, if I could find it somewhere...

great, and I had the idea of Earth Ponies expanding on Pinkie's flying machine to create airships of their own. (with Earth Ponies running in giant hamster wheels to turn the propellers.

and since Earth Ponies phase through cloud, the warship would pass right through the bottom of cloud cities like they weren't even there and lay waste to the city instantly.

I wonder... cloud can't be the most durable thing to work with. You might just be able to catapult exploding shrapnel charges up at a cloud to disperse it, maybe even in one hit if you're lucky.

He spend years training, to become the biggest, strongest Equine who's ever lived. If his strength was Dash's speed...Big Mac is Gilda, or one of the Jocks.

He hardened his hooves by bucking solid rock...they are now indestructable...he can deflect cannonfire with them! Oh, and causally carry a Tom sized bouldier on his head at a steady trot, whilst whistling.
