I still favour the Paramecia just because they can be so off the wall. Even if they aren't useful, they're always hilarious and awesome.

But in truth, not all that often and very rarely in a serious situation. It's usually done between arcs as a gag, but it does come up often enough that it feels like it was worth putting in. Later in the series they introduce a kind of seas stone that negates powers as well, and that gets more use.

Mostly it's greed that causes it, or ignorance, but either way a fertile land can be drained into a dust bowl by too much poor farming practice. AJ would shake her head in disapproval.
