Pretty slow morning today. Usually, I can get 3.

@Ging, I suck at giving synopsises. I invariably always make a thing sound worse than it actually is.

But in a nutshell: Iria is a Bounty Hunter-in-training who goes on a mission with her brother Glen to rescue a wrecked ship... which they discover is transporting Zeiram, a monster that sort of resembles a mix between a mysterious hatted traveller and an H.R. Giger painting, and who seems to be absolutely unkillable. Glen dies, and Iria goes on a quest to both uncover the reason Zeiram was on that ship and destroy the monster, who seems to be reproducing.

@ginger Ah, sorry, forgot you hate the whole "being the top poster" thing. Maybe you've been dethroned somehow.

Come to think about ginger, you can't exactly complain about issuing schadenfreude to a pony.How many times do you dwell over Pinkie's misery?

I think the problem with Pinkie and AJ is they are sort of the two extreme sides of the sanity table with the mane cast. Most of them have a more measured balance of sane and wacky traits. Pinkie and AJ take the 'wacky' and 'sane' roles more consistantly than the other, and as a result seem a bit one note in comparison. (Arguably it was Twilight rather than AJ in Season One however). That;s why you dwell on Pinkie getting pathos from saner moments and I dwell on AJ getting ones from Not so Above It All ones.

It's not like I don't overthink this with every other character however, in every other form of media I watch.

... This discussion is too confusing. I'm gonna go re-watch the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2. That makes more sense.

I dunno though, AJ feels nice and comfortable.

I think AJ was perfect in Season One, in Season Two she feels a bit diluted however, and a lot of her eccentricities seem gone outside the times they have her act completely over the top.

Personally, I like AJ being relatively sane compared to the others. It gives me a sense of normality.

The quirks of the mane cast actually make me like them LESS sometimes

I like AJ in TLR. The whole "standards are too high" issue is something I can relate to. Otherwise, she doesn't get much spotlight, but she's a nice character.

Hell, I loved her in SSCS 6 K

I guess I'm just weird in that I LIKE my heroes to just be good people. They don't NEED to act insane

I like AJ being sane and warm hearted, but still very eccentric and flawed. That's why I liked Season One AJ, even when playing the Straight Mare she gave character quirks in a lot of her scenes. In season two she sometimes ends up playing the generic 'good' pony that never says or does anything notable. There are exceptions however (as said Williams and Rogers episodes tend to retain her character).

Actually Twilight seems to have taken over the role of the eccentric Straight Man, compared to Season One, where she similarly suffered the odd generic role.

I like seeing different sides of the characters, maybe that's why I like seeing RD be sane every once in a while (but still very eccentric).
