They'll need to start thinking of a different origin for the villains other than: Celestia and/or Luna sealed him/her away a 1000 years ago, and now he's gotten loose somehow.

If I were the Mane cast I'd be asking: "Are there any other 1000 year old baddies you have sealed away around here?" y'know, just to be safe

And Scootaloo is awesome. She's perfect for deflating some of the overly sentimental moments, such as throughout "The Cutie Mark Chronicles".

Actually, I'd like to see a seemingly evil version of the mane cast from the future, only for it to turn out that they were on a mission from Princess Celestia to keep their past selves from breaking up or something

I think It'd be awesome to see how powerful Twilight and the others would become in the future, and how they're not really friends anymore, just working together out of loyalty towards Celestia, and a desire to keep the breakup from happening

okay now I have 3 different sets of "evil" counterparts for the main cast buzzing around in my head. Their future selves, the shadow Bolt, and the Knights of Chaos.

What would an older version of the mane cast even look like? They're not exactly fillies, and there doesn't seem to be a big jump in appearance between young adult and middle aged in Equestria. So unless they were all the age of Granny Smith when they went back in time, I don't think they'd look very different

I still like my idea though

I think the main problem with Discord is that he's a good concept excuted badly. I can think of a lot of ways his section of the episode could be improved without resorting to edgey grimdarkness that everyone seems to think Discord-haters want.

If you want to make a funny trickster villian, try to actually make him funny or make his tricks a actual suprise to the audience. It's like Discord is a dumb muscle who's trying/pretending to be a 100% genius. I mean, you couldn't corrupt Fluttershy without resorting to RAGE QUIT means? Just get some animals to abuse her kind nature, you dumbass! Or even better, make her think Angel's been walloped, and that Twilight and friends refused to help him when he was in danger! (in reality, "Angel" would be a stuffed toy.) Just do something that makes her snap under the pressure, not make her too scared to do anything like that, you moron! ARRRRRRGGGHHH!!!

Maybe he doesn't know ANYTHING about the mane cast's personality other than their element.

Especially Fluttershy since she showed no emotion other than fear during his only other encounter with her

I beg to differ. I felt that Discord was well executed. This doesn't mean that there isn't room for imporvement of course.

BTWI don't think that could have worked.Even when she was in flutterrage mode. All she wanted was to be kind to the animals. Not exactly a betrayal to her element.

I honestly don't think Discord knows as much as we think he does.

Think about it, maybe he could sense which pony was linked to what element, and he could see their cutie marks, but other than that He probably knows nothing about the mane cast.

Cloudsdale was probably just a well-educated guess on Discord's part

I'm honestly willing to forgive his "Rage Quit" on Fluttershy because I think it was one of the funniest moments of the episodes. I agree that I would have liked to see him exploiting the cast's personalities a bit more, but we have to keep two things in mind:

1. The show's primary demographic is little girls, so the manipulation has to be simple, and it can't be too subtle or it'll go over their heads. Yes, it could have been more complex, but doing it that way would be ignoring the primary demographic in favor of the secondary one.

2. They only had about 20 minutes to work with. They couldn't really dedicate more than a minute or two to each pony being corrupted, so they had to use a simplified version.

We don't know if Discord even knew about the cheating incident, it seemed to be just a cute call back to fall weather friends.

Agreed, I just chalk it up to the limitations of the medium rather than faulty writing. Other that maybe chopping out the CMC intro, there really isn't a whole lot they could have done to cram anything else in.
