Ginger see

Boring Invincible Hero

and

Showy Invincible Hero

one IS boring as fuck and yawn inducing, the other is pure hot blooded, FUCK YEAH! entertainment.

I'd normally post responses while catching up on the thread, but I can't think of anything constructive to say. This documentary thing sure sounds like it's getting big though.

I've never seen Gurren Lagann.

Do I have to hang up my "anime fan" hat now since there's only like twenty anime I actively enjoy?

@Moe That's 20 more than I've watched. In fact, the only anime I've seen at all is Ouran High School Host Club.

@seraphem: There's also Comically Invincible Hero that can go either way depending on your sense of humor.

God, none of my usual hangouts are active (including this place)

Well I was out all evening watching a play.

@Moe:

Out of curiosity I gotta ask you, have you watched Cowboy bebop or Yu yu hakusho before?

@Sky Strike - There's another one I've never seen.

I was a big anime fan in the late 90s and early 2000s, but for some reason I just lost interest since then. I think the most modern anime I've seen (all the way thru) are Lucky Star and Clannad.

@Marston - I've seen both, but not all the way thru—just caught episodes here and there.

Ok, since we're discussing anime, do you guys have any you'd like to recommend? Minecraft is getting somewhat boring and this thread is dead a lot, so I need something to occupy me this summer. Preferably something that's available on Youtube.

I haven't seen either of them

Wait, saw a bit of Yu Yu. I don't think I liked ANY of the characters though

Same, however I can't seem find anything good now days. Cept for Gundam Unicorn, but those episodes are only released a couple times a year.

Other people asking for reccomendations is so depressing, because people will always be more successful with them than with me sad

[up][up][up]If you had gotten far enough, I think you would have at least liked some of the charectors, mainly the more effective and memorable villains of course. I can't predict how well you would have liked Hiei and Kurama once they actually became the other two protagonist's though.

@Sky Strike -

Well, I've said again and again that some of the best anime of all time are Ranma 1/2, The Slayers and Iria: Zeiram the Animation (though that last one is short).

I also like the Dragonball franchise, but I'd recommend the manga over the anime.

@ Sky, can always go with TTGL.

really that's the only anime I've seen that I can recall, other then the ones that I saw on Toonami.

@ginger How do you feel about about a series with an overall grey and grey morality? Both sides have their heroes and douchebags, and seem just in their conflict?

@ginger Everyone has different parameters for what they like. Yours are just a lot bit more specific.

Just watched Over The Barrel, funny episode, though for some reason the failed musical protest just leaves me with a Pony image of this:

@Chadaman: I kinda like setups when done comically, sort of like Escalating War scenarios. It's just when some shows have the problem of making one side the Designated Hero, thus destroying the premise.

Im going to start an ATLA liveblog type thingy after I take my Final Exam on June 6th. Vaguely considering doing a Synchtube watch of at least a few of the episodes if anyone is interested.

Ive never seen ATLA before and am only vaguely familiar with it so It'll be an ATLA virgin liveblog... might be fun or I might get bored.

@Psi Are you watching through the series for the first time, or rewatching?

@Ginger - you should definitely check out Iria: Zeiram the Animation. If you don't think Zeiram (the villain of the piece) is awesome, I don't think you and I can be friends.

In general I find anime was better when OV As (basically, direct-to-video) were a big business. Anime feels almost like its gotten sanitized ever since OVA crashed and television became more dominant.
