Truthfully I hear as many people defending Rainbow Dash as I do hating her. She's a jerk, but the show doesn't sugar coat it like they do with some others.

I think it's just a Vocal Minority thing. Every character has groups of haters, and they tend to be more vocal than the groups like that are ambivalent.

I never heard of this supposed war.

I admit there are maybe a few connections. As mentioned earlier, Twilight is nicer but occasionally gets her flawed moments sugarcoated a little (eg. Lesson Zero) while RD is more of a jerk but tends to get them banged into her head at full throttle. It's not really enough to consider either unlikeable though.

I think Pinkie needs an intervention.
