I think I like Pinkie so much because I can kinda relate to her.

I like AJ but I can't relate to her in the slightest. But she is very admirable.

• Favorite episode? Lesson Zero is what got me in the show, but A Canterlot Wedding Part 2 was an interesting change of pace.

Woooowwww, I get ignored a lot in this thread. Random rant time, I guess.

You know, every time stuff like my general dislike of S2 and my hating the finale happens and it goes against general opinion, I almost always chalk it up to having higher standards (keyword: almost). That doesn't really mean anything, really. It's like, you enjoy this stake but I hate it and will only eat the fillet Mignon. Looking in from the outside, it looks like I'm better for having refined tastes but, when you get down to it, it means nothing. It's not like I'm enjoying my stuff more than you are just because my stuff is "better". Because, really, all that matters is that you enjoy it.

So yeah. Random rant. Probably will be my only post in the past string to not be ignored. Continue on with your CEQ discussion. Me and my stuff will be here.

Twilight has never been a typical boring protagonist. Since when are typical boring protagonists nerds?

@Ginger: Eh, possibly, but she needed the powerup more than Pinkie or Twilight, Fluttershy's already had hers and I'm expecting AJ to get one later (she's certainly coping well at the moment). Rarity could use a boost, but she's expressed interest in learningother spells from Twilight and Tick Tock which should help, if take a while.

1. Twilight, with Rainbow Dash leaning close. They funnily enough play to different ends of the ensemble (Straight Mare with heavy Not so Above It All aspects and Jerk with a Heart of Gold with notable moments of clarity).

2. Probably Derpy.

3. The most one dimentional of the main six and occasionally annoying, but still pretty likeable. Usually rather endearing when she gets actual Sympathetic P.O.V..

4. As absolclaw mentioned. Similar to Pinkie, AJ's very loveable when she is the actual focus, but as a secondary character, while still likeable, she just seems kind of there and usually doesn't play Straight Mare as vividly as Twilight does. Maybe that's why she seems bit blander in Season Two.

5. Lesson Zero and Fall Weather Friends.

@Sereg: I guess it's more the fact she can come off one at first sight as she has a lot of traits that are often attributed to Mary Sue-ish "everygirl" protagonists, the only difference is that Twilight is balanced with proper flaws and quirks that make her very human. As said in Season Two they focused more on her comical neurotics especially which makes her a very stand out character (while still giving her broad straight mare moments to balance it).
