It might have happened during Season One since more of her episodes focused on her being a foil to another more abrasive character or getting past her Fish out of Water status (which is more a scenario based flaw than a personality based one). As said in later episodes they exagerrated her flaws such as her neurotics and fear of failure more and gave her more individual focus which shown she had proper draw appeal.

She was never utterly boring or "normal" but as said before she had the traits often attributed to examples of Designated Protagonist Syndrome which is maybe why people were so quick to judge.

@Ginger: Could be a good fight. I just wantsome new fight combinations in general. Some combinations have interesting potential.

People many times dislike main character or have him as least favorite characters. Sometimes it's look like they dislike that character just because it's main hero.

@Sereg mostly, I want Red to fight someone else.

It's probably more that there are certain traits that main characters usually possess, which happens to be a trait that a lot of people rather dislike.

@Sereg: As said though, those are often subtle unintrusive flaws to typical normal Only Sane Man characters who are rarely shown in a flawed light (eg. Sally Acorn of the Sonic comics is similar, but she is rather bland in comparison and gains constant critism for Mary Sue-ish traits and NEVER being shown in a flawed light). Twilight is largely saved by the fact that the show balances the cast's strengths and weaknesses as well as giving fair individual spotlight to all of them, otherwise she could have easily ended up another typical Straight Man.

Maybe it's just me however. I tend to find full on Straight Men rather dull. Maybe that's why Not so Above It All Twilight amuses me so.

I always like main hero, even those Standardized Leader type.

Most of the time I LIKE the main hero, but they're never my absolute favourite character

Heya Orion, I'm trying to figure out a more pain-free method to beat the Wind and Earth dragons at the moment.

There are a fair few times I actually have the main hero as my favorite character. I tend to despise those that fall into Designated Protagonist Syndrome however. Most characters I think should be able to hold spotlight by themselves. Remember what happened to Mickey Mouse.

As said though I don't think Twilight falls into this, hense why she is listed as one of my favorite characters.

Anyways, Wind Dragon I figure I'll need to max out my Evade (127%), because the barrage of physical attacks can be blocked, or I could summon Golem repeatedly to negate physicals. At least they aren't as easy as they were in Vanilla FFVI, because over there they were jokes. Admittedly the counter script which responds with a fierce physical followed by several attacks is pain, even moreso since it might well be impossible to reach 255 defense D:

No, no, I'm all for Ace figuring out a pain-free method to beat me. I don't like pain.

Of course, I'd have to wonder why he'd want to beat me at all, but whatever.

Don't know when y'all turned into dragon slayers, but in regards to heroes - I think the reason some people like others over the hero is because the work designs the heroes, and then designs the other characters to contrast the hero, resulting in them having more 'spice' to their character. Maybe I'm thinking the wrong way though.
