@Crowlover: You get the Crusader Esper for beating all 8 Dragons.

Update: Defeated Magimaster. Who gave him Auto-Raise? That was just mean since I had just blown a lot of mana Rasping and Osmosing his mana pool.

Wait, are you guys talking about a MLP/FF game?

Me gusta

EDIT: Ah okay. That explains the eight dragons. I should try finding it sometime when I'm done with Uni and my internet ain't slow. Is it basically FFVI but with the characters swapped, or is it actually rewritten to suit the ponies?

@absolclaw: Often I think may be due to a bigger insistance on keeping the main hero "loveable" to it's target audience and so writers may be more limited to what they can do with them and have more fun writing more abrasive or jerkish side characters. It's not rare for villains to steal the spotlight and the original main star to become a goody goody Hero Antagonist.

Fun Fact: In the Japanese version of FFVI, Crusader was called "Jihad". Woolsey bowdlerised it for the US release, lol.

Some of the party interactions come out differently, like Cyan's wife-and-son interactions replaced with AJ bonding with her aunt and cousin :3 and Celestia deliberately trolling Trixie [lol] Also Trixie, given her nature as an entertainer, actually improvised the lyrics for the Opera and improved them. Mwahahahahaha, truly Great and Powerful entertainment.

Now I has 2 Holy Avengers, and changed Pinkie's setup to dual-wield Snipers so she could hit stuff with full damage from the back row with Catscratch :D I traded in some more items for other stuff, and now have enough White Lances and Wonderbolt Badges to outfit Dashie, Scoots, and Derpy with them for !Soar abuse. Fluttershy will need to frontline if she mains the Stunner Wonder dagger though. Luna takes back her Tarasque claw from Pinkie, AJ will take the Scimitar and a Broken Seal (for hilarious pseudo-Odin cleave action), and I still need Twi to uncurse her Cursed Shield. Also I plan to get the Nightshade !random and the Magic Pot one too (Nightshade casts a Charm attack, and Magic Pot !random makes Pinkie absorb many many elements).

Or just skip all the formalities and make the villain the protagonist from the get-go.

So...what would you all say is a good episode to "introduce" someone to this show? Or for someone who wants to see how this show actually is? If you only have 1 episode that you could force someone to see (because I mean "my little pony is for little girls, that's so stupid. why would I watch it"), what would it be?

There's one on appearently is about Twlight Sparkle getting a message from herself from the future, and another with Pinky Pie trying to befriend the one entity that's refused her friendship. Think those are good "this is the show and how it is" episodes?

@Kyler: Some at least seemed like they were trying to make the hero the main focus at first, but then got tired of them in favor of the more fun villains (eg. Rufus was diluted in favor of the Urpneys in The Dreamstone, as was as Ash for Team Rocket in Poke Mon, for a while it seemed Sonic was ending up this manner for Eggman, especially in Sonic X, though they seem to be fixing that now). Most of them tend to still advertise the heroes as the main appeal afterwards to keep in younger audiences' interest (who tend to not like villains as much).

[up]Hard to say, Lesson Zero has a lot of Black Comedy however, and makes an amusing twist to the usual "Aesop about Friendship" setup. Very fun deconstruction of usually saccharine works so likely a good way to introduce older viewers. To balance though, it has a heartwarming ending for younger viewers and Twilight to some extent is rather sympathetic.

@Psi 001 Either way, whether it be risks or lack of development, side characters tend to get the quirks that the hero doesn't. If we're looking into the kids show format, this is inevitable, since the protagonist character in most cases acts as more of a gateway drug than someone compelling.

In regards to a gateway drug episode, I'd suggest one that has the ensemble in it, or a season 1 episode. The first two episodes of season 1 should suffice, but an episode like the Ticketmaster has that mix of zany slice of life the series has as well as most of the characters having their aspirations for the future (and season 1 finale) revealed.

@Nicktendonick Personally, I've never heard those for introducing someone to the show and I'm not so sure those would work. I don't have any other ideas as I have yet to get someone to join the herd, though.tongue

Dragonshy might work.

@Ginger: Yeah, those matchuos would be a bit too one-sided. Maybe Pinkie vs Starlight and Twilight vs Red?

Twilight is actually one of the very few proagonists that is my fave charater precsely because of Designated Protagonist Syndrome. Only other exception I an think of is Thrice Radiant Misho who happens to have a lot in common with her. Possibly because in both cases I think, "They're like me, except awesome!"

Oh, but for the extra FFVI Adv content in PFVI...!

Mayhap a GBA conversion could be next?

I think Twilight is very well developed, since a lot of her flaws and traits are very relatable and down to earth, but at the same time she can be a very quirky and wacky character on occasion. She has the relatability and the charisma. Even when she is the Straight Man she has a tendency to Chew The Scenery (eg. Mmm Mystery).

@Nicktendo, I hear Swarm of the Century and Bridle Gossip are good introductory episodes.
I analyze "Geek Culture" here.

Ticket Master might be a good one for introducing the whole ensemble properly.
