I remember once watching a video of the sonic games where Tails just held a chaos emerald out where Robotnik could steal it. So much for being smart.

I just watched GTBO again.

You know, I think RD came off really well in that one. It's true that Pinkie can be a little overbearing, so Dash avoiding her at the beginning is understandable. Once she warmed up to Pinkie, she was pretty nice. They definately should stick to that.

And I really would love for Gilda to return. It has so much story potential.

Yeah, if Tails does have that high of an IQ it's an Informed Ability. At least Robotnik demonstrates it in his ability to build ridiculous machines and whatnot.

Tails can do about equal with Robo when i comes to building stuff and tech stuff, he's just 100% book smarts and nothing else, Ivo has the book smarts and at least some cunning.

Tails being smart has improved with later games, with Colors more or less nailing it, IMO. You do have to remember that canonically, Tails is pretty young. You could probably handwave it as him being naive if you don't feel like blaming bad writing/translations.

I don't mind tails being a good mechanic, like, smart enough to build and maintain his biplane, but when he becomes master of anything sciencey the instant it appears on screen, then it gets annoying. Sonic Chronicles showed that Ivo is ceratinly does scince better, as Tails is visibly impressed with a lot of Ivo's tech.

Give the fox some credit, he manage to perfectly debug a Wisp translator over the course of Sonic Colours, and his Cyclone convertible is the best reincarnation of the Tornado. Also he nearly got the Doctor with the fake emerald if only he hadn't blurted out the secret

@Ginger: The Doctor gets his gear by secretly making G.U.N. their robot army using a dummy corporation. That's why the GUN robots are about as easy to kill as his badniks.

Pinkie would get a wildly different number every time she is tested. She probably know a lot, but she's not very smart, to say the least.

yeah a standardized IQ test would be wasted in Pinkie.

And AJ's would also be useless, she's plenty smart just not in the way IQ test are designed to measure.

Pinkie should have an above-average IQ, but nothing spectacular. She's got very quick thinking and creative thinking to a fine art, and has excellent memory, but gets distracted easily.

Yeah, the standard IQ test focuses a bit much on mathematical and logical intelligence; stuff like social intelligence kinda goes by the wayside. On a standard test I'd say Twi would be on top, followed by Rarity. Have no clue where everyone else would fall, though.
