@Ginger: That just about sums it up. AJ doesn't have a whole lot of book smarts, but she's much better about actually applying that knowledge.

Dashie should be fairly quick-thinking because she needs to mentally calculate the !Physics needed for her awesome aerobatics. Pinkie is merely quite bright with a good memory, and the smartest is clearly Big Macintosh, who clearly wrote several books on fancy mathematics [lol]

AJ is clearly very good with practical/applied knowledge.

So who's the 'dumbest'?

I would say RD, but Ace has a point.

Dashie's just blunt and reckless is all. All the Mane Six are clearly on the positive side of the IQ scale anyways.

IQ Scales are lies and propoganda anyway.

I bet Celestia failed her test, then had it sent to the moon... and then accepted it back because Luna didn't stop publicizing it.

[up]And how do you define "failing" an IQ test?

Regarding Eggman's name, I think it kinda plays into his role. The guy is Not So Harmless. He has a goofy and bumbling demeanor but under the right situation is genuinely deadly and cunning. No one takes "Eggman" seriously especially when he's going into giddy fits and tantrums like that, but it can come back to haunt them (see the Unleashed intro).

Also I liked Griffon The Brush Off, even if similar to a few other early episodes, the Aesop was a bit Anvilicious and forced. Gilda seemed a bit of a generic bully. It was cool to see Rainbow Dash in Cool Big Sis mode with Pinkie Pie however, and her collected stand up to Gilda was pretty impressive too.

As said many times before, we need RD and PP as a prankster team again.

I actually wonder about Fluttershy's smarts. I don't think she's dumb by any stretch of the imagination.

I just don't consider her particularly above average either

Celestia concocted a millenium-long Gambit to cure her Sister of her Nightmare madness, and she succeeded. I daresay she has the kind of genius only an Immortal or long-lived one could earn.

re:Eggman, Sonic just makes fun of him because he's trashed the Doctor's toys so much he doesn't fear the guy any more.

@Ginger: Fluttershy's intelligence is mostly focused on the emotional/social/empathic front, so she's good at reading body language and understanding her animal friends sans language.

Fluttershy seems more naive and childlike than stupid. She's similar to Twilight, probably would do well in terms of education, but in terms of life smarts, completely inept.

I still don't think Flutters' grades were that good in school. [lol]

Though, that might've been because of nerves

Yeah, the problem with IQ stuff is that it doesn't take any form of social knowledge or practical knowledge. Stuff like RD's abilities to read and influence the weather obviously take a certain type of intelligence, but it's not the same type of intelligence that Twilight has.

This is sorta why I like the show, it doesn't simplify forms of intelligence. There's not one character that "knows everything" or another that's completely stupid. They all have different forms of intellect, and usually flunk at another. That's a cool complexity.

It's complexities like that, in addition to the world building and humour, that make this show awesome.
