If I were to pick a random background pony for an episode, it'd probably be Carrot Top. Living next to the Apple family seems interesting. Maybe instead of having a large family like Applejack, she has no relatives in Ponyville. It could be a splitscreen episode, contrasting Carrot Top and Applejack's day.

I don't think I'd really want any previous characters back. Maybe the Diamond Dogs, but I can't think of a circumstance where they'd be needed again. Braeburn would be nice too.

I suppose having some episodes that balance off some of the more restricted characters for extra facets might work (eg. more Smart Ball moments for Dash and Pinkie). I also wouldn't mind some more Not so Above It All episodes for Applejack (though it was only really Season Two which downplayed them).

Oh, and I wouldn't mind seeing an episode where Spike has physical involvement. It was hinted to in Dog And Pony Show (where he was actually a bit badass) but hasn't appeared since then.

@Sky Yeah. Pinkie was being so obnoxious that it almost traumatized me. I think I may have reacted with a bit too much gusto at seeing her suffer at the end
