@Ginger: I'm just telling you how I feel about your reaction.

My opinions should not really mean anything, since I'm not reading the story. So I say that you just ignore my reactions and carry on.

I can kind of understand wanting bad things to happen to a character, even if you don't like them, a character going through bad times can help create pathos and fallible qualities. Maybe that's why the characters in the show feel so sympathetic, nearly everytime they appear in the spotlight they are the Butt Monkey.

@Applelight Limited: Not a bad idea. Might be even funnier if no one knows it's their prank and spend most of the episode trying to keep the other one's mouth shut "Toilet Paper" style. I could see that being hilarious with those particular characters.

Another possible good idea is to combine it with my Smart Ball suggestion and actually have the two goofy pranksters do something rather competant in their antics.

@Ginger: I think the difference is that in Apple's case, he isn't gloating about something horrible happening to somebody's favorite pony. If he goes on about how awesome fat!Pinkie is, it doesn't really hurt anybody else, whereas going on about how happy you are that Pinkie gets the crap beaten up is going to be hard to hear for Pinkie fans. I mean, think about how you would feel if somebody started gloating every time something bad happens to AJ.

My desire to see her suffer came from sheer annoyance and untold, incomprehensible frustration. and I momentarily wanted her dead so that there'd be no repeats of that incident EVER again. (which I'm genuinely fearful of.)

@Ginger: Annoyingness is relative. I'm sure there's somebody out there who found Pinkie hilarious and would be annoyed by AJ.

Also, the only time in this entire show I've ever wanted something bad to happen to someone was Angel in Putting Your Hoof Down. I wanted to punch his douchey ass.

As said before, I think a character acting up or going through tough times is kinda neccessary for pathos. As long as it isn't too cruel I think it works. Is it a coincidence most of the character's biggest showings of personality establishment are when they are the Jerkass Butt Monkey (eg. Applebuck Season, Mare Do Well, Lesson Zero)?
