By the way, Discord, you forgot to mention that Dashie also broke the second rule.
The bit with Fluttershy was totally cheating. Poke, now you're a mean meany-head? Come on.
I'm kind of disappointed by the way they handled the intro scene. The Big Ball of Violence and all felt awfully forced.
In short, I'd put this episode somewhere around middle-tier, saved only by Discord being a totally awesome Large Ham.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...

It's hilarious how Discord was manipulating the ponies' doubts to failure, but when it came to Fluttershy, he was like "Don't you have the least bit of doubt?" And Fluttershy was like "Naw. Me and my homies are tight." So Discord was like "Fuck this. Charm Pony!" It cracked me up.

Agreed.
I honestly thought the Fluttershy scene was hilarious; out of all the ponies, she's the one that forces him to cheat. Seriously, he's only doing the whole maze thing for the lulz. He could have just zapped all the ponies to begin with, but he found it funnier to do it by screwing with them.
I do agree that the opening bit was a bit rushed, but considering they only had 22 minutes to introduce Discord and get all the ponies corrupted. Considering how much stuff they had to cram in, I think it turned out pretty well.

Well, Applejack didn't really lie to anyone until she got mezzed. But she was shaken by a lie. So I think he was just making them doubt their Elements and not going for the full betrayal.
