Anyway, here's my take on Discord's corruption:

First off, I doubt he ever really bothered to make the game winnable. He just wants to screw with everyone. There's no reason he's going to make it fair if he doesn't have to. But my guess is that he isn't trying to corrupt all the ponies. He's targeting Twilight.

We know Discord is screwing with their heads, but Twilight has no idea. All she sees is her friends beginning to act like bitches for no discernible reason. Applejack is lying, Pinkie takes offense to everything, Rainbow Dash abandoned them; Discord isn't trying to corrupt the ponies, he's trying to make Twilight (and by extension, Celestia) as miserable as possible by breaking the group and making them incapable of using the elements of Harmony. Since Twilight is the one who brought the group together, as long as she believes her friends are corrupted, the elements are useless.

The fact that he gets to dick around with the other ponies is basically just a bonus for him.

Discord is my favourite Type of villain; Intelligent, funny, powerful, menacing, manipulative. Is there anything missing that would make him one of the best bad guys ever?

It should be a Discord cult. It would've made soooo much more sense; you could actually argue that Equestria is rightfully Discord's.

Of course, an OC Discord pony thing would be totally untenable, and the fanfic did complete before season 2 aired...
