Hmmmm. Both are seemingly infinitely powerful creatures, who while should be threatening come off as funny, find ways to manipulate the main cast for their own enjoyment/goals, and are basically implied to be the ultimate evil.

Well Pinkie Pie is all ready a nice little bundle of self esteem issues, as seen in Party of One...so Discord kinda hit the chord nice and hard when he used the "Your friends don't really like you" card/

I could be late to figuring this out, but having watched at least part of the episode twice now, I have a feeling that the elements were never in the hedge maze to begin with. I think that instead, Discord phrased his riddle in a misleading way as to make them think that they were there. Likewise, I think he was misleading RD when he told her about making the right choice in a way to have her make the (obviously) wrong choice.

Yeah, I think Discord will do just fine as a villain even if he does have his powers reigned in.

"Twist and turns where it all began" He's really talking about the Ever Free forest! Think about it. That's where the mane cast found the elements in the first place and judging by the ruined castle that exists there Celestia and Luna probably are connected to that place as well. And the forest path is very crooked which makes sense for the twists and turns part.

Isn't the traits there's cutie marks represent the same thing as their element? I mean the Elements are shaped like their cutie marks for a reason.
