Captain America is basically the Marvel universe's Superman. Personality-wise, that is.

AUTO was pretty cool.

"Why are you joining the army? Do you want to kill Nazis?"

"I don't want to kill anyone. I just don't like bullies."

That's why I like Cap.

back during the Amalgam event, when damn near every marvel and DC hero were working together, it was CAP they chose as there leader...yeah he's that awesome.

Maybe the difference is that most of you have seen the Cap America movie and I haven't. When you're part of a group, being The Generic Hero just makes you seem bland. And Thor's just Generic Hero + Ham. At least Black Widow and Hawkeye had a chance to stand out at the beginning.

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — No, you move.

That's why I like Cap.

yeah loving cap has nothing to do with the movie, it's just because of who he IS.

[up] oh buck yes!

second greatest line of dialog I have ever seen in a comic book

first is

Your much stronger then you think you are.

Teeth: I do tab now, since it's more convenient. It just took me a bit to kick the habit. Back when I was forced to take those elementary school typing courses, the program was very exact about what it wanted and would only acknowledge three spaces. Tab just registered as an error. evil grin And then it stuck for a very long time.

A personal moment I loved was when Thor pinned down Hulk using his Hammer. That was actually pretty clever.

I so wish Hulk had actually, y'know, been THREATENED and successfully beaten at some point.

Ironic how he was pretty much unstoppable in the Avengers yet got the absolute SHIT kicked out of him during the Hulk movie against the Abomination

Im not a big comic book fan, at least not the Superhero style comics... I read stuff like Fables, the Unwritten and Morning Glories.
I always thought Captain America was a really stupid super hero though. I dunno if its the shield or the blatant patriotism thing...

Maybe I don't read enough comics. The closest I've come is reading The Arbidged Series of Civil War.

I should read Unwritten. Only read the first issue.

Though my favorite comics are The Sandman. I really need to get volume six.

Well the main conflict is him being afraid that the teammates just want him for the other guy.

thing is, yeah on paper Cap sounds kinda band and the whole uber-America thing sounds kinda off nowadays, but Cap makes it WORK! he done'st push his ideal on anyone, he doesn't judge anyone long as they aren't hurting others, he just goes about his business helping everyone he can while living those ideals. he doens't care about being an icon, or a hero, he just wants to do whats right.

[up]x7 Yeah, but Abomination is pretty much the only thing that can match up to him strength-wise.

Abomination is basically just an uglier Hulk.

There's one "What If?" story where he wakes up in an America that's fallen into McCarthyism and he actually launches into a tirade slamming the country.

I haven't seen The Incredible Hulk yet.

2003's Hulk left a bad taste in my mouth.

iirc Abomination actaully has more baseline strength then the hulk, he just doesn't have the more rage=more strength part of the power, so hulk can eventually overpower him, he just has to get really REALLY pissed first.

@ Story he gave up on the government, not his ideal of what America stood for, just the yahoo's in charge that didn't care about those things.

I'm loyal to nothing general, except the dream

Ironically, it seems that Ginger and my positions are switched compared to The Hunger Games. Since this time it's me watching the movie without knowing the source material.
