All I hope is that those scary things never come back. I hid under a table for a whole day.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of fizzy-pop! (Mum won't let me have rum)
@con I don't think any of her subjects were in any danger of actually being killed.
@Lurker probably, I'm just trying to justify the line "In my heart there is no room" I think it's because at least part of it is filled with care/love for her subjects

You mean the changelings Pip?
Don't make me fire Pinky's party cannon.
First, she cars for herself above anything, but depending on just HOW isect like they are, she may see the other changelings as extensions of herself.

Cold inside sounds better than dead inside to me.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
You know, it's possible for someone to not make room in their heart for any kind of love. Like if they filled it up with greed or pride or ambition.
Are you not entertained? Is that not why you are here?
All the other changelings had minds of their own. And it wouldn't be a good impostor that couldn't think and react.
I have a message from another time...
Well I've sucessfully procrastinated all week on my big homework assignment. Time to leave the thread!

@ con: Oh, so that's what they're called.
EDIT (SEMI-NINJA): I like to think that the changeling relationship is a little like that of
Ender's Game. I only read the first book, but I know that the bug-like things consider only the Queen to be of particular importance. That's just the system they work under. I really liked that book. I should read the sequels. They're supposed to be good.

The Element of Procrastination
Finals finished: Operation firestorm is now go.
not saying they didn't, just that even if they are there own individuals, the Queen still saw them as extensions of her herself above all else.

Well forgive me if I like trying to see the good in people (changelings)

@ con: Yeah... and I need to re-read the first one too. I read it a few years ago and I kind of remember it, but not many of the details. And yeah, I've heard none of the sequels are as good as the first one. But I remember both liking and hating Ender. If he stays like that in the other books, I think I will really enjoy it. Anyway, I just put it in my summer reading list ^^
The Element of Procrastination
@David. IIRC that is an OLD comic.
ummm Ilse, that not a good comparison. With the Formics, the Queen WAS the only entity, the workers were literally just mindless meat sacks the queen controlled. Only the Queen had that verse's version of a soul.
That was what started the war with humans, they didn't realize that each human was as unique as a Hive Queen, so when they first encountered some, they thought they were just workers and killed them to send a message to there queen. By the time they realized there mistake it was to late to try and make peace.
