I don't ship crazy ships though, strangely enough. Slash is about the "weirdest" thing I ship.

As for other poetry, I really enjoy Elizabeth Bishops "One Art"

The art of losing isn't hard to master

I know all about it after I wrote a four page paper on it. Strangely enough, I enjoyed writing a four page paper on it. That's how much I liked it.

I love The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Tried forever to get my mom to read it, but she just said it was nonsense. sad Not for everyone I guess.

Yes, I do indeed like the Marx Brothers. Though my characterization of the harp pony won't be completely based on him. Because then I'd basically be shipping Harpo Marx as a pony, with a pony. And gay.

And that'd be kinda creepy.

[up]Nonsense? How so?

Would pay for hair clippings of ponies if it means we can grow them in a lab or something.

Speaking of poetry, I tried to come up with another limmerick today but it didn't go so well.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".

Harpo is already creepy. [lol]

And for those few of you who care about my opinion, my favorite Marx Brothers movie is Duck Soup.

[up][up][up] She read it and just said it was nonsense, I guess. She's not into poetry very much, though.

[down]Snap snap snap.

I wrote a little stanza for a fanfic I have coming up.

And we will walk along the road
A lantern as our only load
To give a tiny guiding light
Beneath the black and starless night.

Robert Frost is nice too:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

And then I can't remember the rest completely. My teacher is a lot better at memorizing tongue

But I did have to memorize and recite 40 lines of poetry for a grade. I ended up choosing Satan's speech when he first sees Adam and Eve.

Not spirits, yet to heavenly spirits bright little inferior

Whom my thought pursue with wonder, and could

love. So lively shines in them divine resemblance

And such grace the hand that formed them on their shape hath poured

Ah gentle pair, ye little think how nigh your change approaches

When all these delights WILL VANISH AND DELIVER YE TO WOE

I've forgotten parts of it, but I'm surprised I still remember so much after more than 6 months...

I'm not a very big fan of Robert Frost. Walt Whitman never did much for me either, actually. And the best thing about William Carlos Williams is his name. [lol]

If you want a poetry collection, I recommend: "100 Essential Modern Poems" compiled by Joseph Parisi. It's really good and has some analysis and author information. Even though I'm not a poetry person, I still really enjoy that collection. waii

I like the villanelle format Elizabeth Bishop uses in "One Art" and that Dylan Thomas uses in "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night"

Have you ever read Pablo Neruda? I studied Spanish just so I could read his originals!

And modern poetry is cool, but I also like old stuff. Percy Shelly's stuff is cool, even though he was a jerk. wink

I remember reading this one a while back in my english class.

Thought it was funny, a kid who gets his hand cut off by a buzzsaw.
Their walls will fall, their faith will fail, their flesh will tear. Element of Ambiguity

@ con: I very rarely read in Spanish. I'm planning on taking a Spanish literature course later though, so that could be fun ^^

[up][up][up] I do remember that one, and I liked it because of the way it captured a tragedy. Shakespeare allusions always earn you brownie points, anyway. It's almost like cheating. [lol] I did think a poem about a kid dying that way was inherently funny. Im a terrible person.
