@Ginger: I feel you on the "wasn't worth it" part. Bile Fascination once got me to look at something I really don't want to ever think about again. I learned me lesson and have been able to completely resist looking into stuff like Cupcakes ever since.
So tonight the ATG bonus theme had me speed drawing ponies in 10 minutes flat.

Same here. More dramatic or realistic treatments of the setting are fine, but nastiness for it's own sake almost feels disrespectful to the source material.
I agree with this. This is also why I very much dislike Rule34. It's not that I'm a prude at all, it's just that putting characters from a work I am familiar with in that sort of situation just makes me cringe. It's just... it's not true to the work; it reduces perfectly good characters to their anatomy and nothing more. It doesn't feel like the same work anymore.
I have a message from another time...

Or, to put it another way, a character reduces another character to their anatomy.

Coincidentally, that sentence forms a synopsis of Cupcakes, from what I've heard of it.

zerky wholeheartedly disagrees. Reducing characters to their anatomy can be very helpful!◊
... Yes she did that just to make that pun. D:
Lauren last reply on her Deviant Art page:
"I don't know if I'll have the credit, but I did do quite a lot of work on that one up through storyboards. I haven't seen it finished, but I have high hopes! There's some great stuff in that one.
And for your second question—- no. I'm on to other things now."
So it is confirmed that she will not be in crew of next season (if they made one). :(
They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

I was just browsing through another forum and someone speculated something interesting. For your consideration: The hallway from those new screenshots we've seen could be a refurbished version of the ruined castle from the pilot episode.
Probably not, but eh. The dimensions◊ look plausible enough.

^Well, Luna's back now - but Canterlot Palace has been the center of Equestrian civilization for the past thousand years, not to mention that the old palace is in the Everfree Forest. Who knows?
Anyway, I've thrown in my two bits about shipfic and such in the past, but visual Rule 34 is slightly different, I suppose. It just feels more... I don't know, blatant? Maybe direct? than clopfic, in some way. I can't quite articulate it, but it's a different matter to me.

It could be that the new castle shares a similar design to the old castle (before it got all ruined and stuff).

^I'm okay with clopfic and such. I don't read it (with the exception of Luna vs. Threesome, which was a humor fic), but I have read serious fics that deal with matters of sex and sexuality, and those don't bother me. I think the main issue I have with drawn Rule 34 is that I can't really imagine (nor do I want to be able to) how it's possible to execute Rule 34 within the show's art style. It's that sort of thing, really. I have no issue knowing that characters are having sexytimes, I just don't want to see it.

Oh it's you Red.
Well to each's own I guess, because the rule 34 doesn't really bother me unless it's REALLY badly drawn. I can see the issues some people would have though. The people on rule 34.com itself even complain about it sometimes
and I prefer Humanized ponies having sex anyway. but people have their own problems with that style (still don't know why though)

^Anything really explicit just kinda sours me, but I have no problem with cuddling or anything like that. Basically, if the art entails adding detail to somepony, I'm iffy on it.
Like almost anything, though, I'll make an exception for, well, exceptional stuff. I guess.
Have you seen John Joseco's human pony designs?
