@Chad: But with the changelings running around, assuming we accepted Kegi's idea of non-enslavement, how would they get their "food" without being caught? I'd think the ponies, now knowing about changelings, would withhold their loves in privacy.
Don't make me fire Pinky's party cannon.
The evil of the Changelings' methods comes from attacking, kidnapping, and replacing ponies. Not from their method of feeding.
@crowlover: What did you think of my scene?
Unity of the Sun Mare
Only 6 pages in the last 3 hours? I am disapoint.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
@Lurker: And that's why I asked how would the changelings feed. And as Kegi pointed out, they would be shooting themselves in the hoof with that plan. Oh sure, you could charade as the ponies in love, but as evil!Cadence showed, the changeling would not be able to get the real pony's behavior down 100%.

Doesn't Chrysalis outright state that she was weakening Shining Armor by feeding off of him? That's definitely more parasitic than symbiotic. I think the question of if they're evil or not depends on if they need to feed off love to survive, or if they simply do so to gain power. We really don't get enough info in the episode to say one way or the other.
I'm not trying to defend the changelings either. I'm just in it for the discussion.

wild mass guess Their true form is actually really, really attractive. wild mass guess
> Implying that isn't canon.

I can't speak for the mook changelings, but Chrysalis was more attractive than an insectlike monster pony should be.
There was no implication that any other changelings existed outside the queen's control.
She said she travels lands to find sources of love for her people.
Changelings are sapient. we can see them think, reason, and grow exasperated and confused during the fight scene.
I'm sure there are dissident ones, or ones who simply didn't enlist into the army.
I have a message from another time...
These are my views on the subject: Changelings are not inherently evil, though their current method for feeding is dishonest at best.
So, with Chrysalis, we finally have enough enemies for someone to do a parody of
Kid Icarus Uprising's "Medusa" trailer.
Pit: Twilight
Palutena: Celestia (though, not really needed, since she's off-screen)
Medusa: Nightmare Moon
Twinbellows: Cerberus
Thanatos: Discord
Pandora: Chrysalis

Changeling are not evil, they just want to be loved. :D
And to be honest I can accept both interpretation Always Evil and Colorful Morality.
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.
