My other headcanon is that only the more powerful changelings can hold up their shapeshifting for long periods of time; the drones can do it temporarily, but they couldn't do what the Queen did; otherwise they'd have just all shapeshifted into ponies and snuck into Canterlot for the wedding. Or just infiltrated Equestria without needing a big attack on the capital to begin with.

I think that the changeling capture ponies and put them in those cocoon things, which turn them into changelings. What else were they doing to Celestria?

Well, we did learn that changelings don't seem to have a way to distinguish there changed selves from the genuine pony. You'd figure that a species that can shape shift, they would have a way to figure out who's real and who's fake.

Perhaps they did relise that it was the real FS, but they didn't attack as she wasn't a threat, while the other ponies were more dangrous.

@Purple: Hard to say. It's kind of hard to see a species that apparently feeds off of love as being non-evil, but we really don't know enough about them to really say. Maybe there are good, butterfly-like changelings out there somewhere.
