[up]Not quite. Earth ponies in that fic had the power to "stand firm". It involves them basically bonding with the earth beneath them, and becoming invulnerable.

It that state, they can not be moved. And Dangerous Business doesn't take place in Equestria.

From battle stems rivalries. From rivalries stems respect. From respect stems friendship.

...And friendship is the greatest magic of all.

There a pony called Minty Fresh?

Nah, it was always just "Minty", but... Now that you mention it, "Fresh" would make an awesome surname.

I loved Dangerous Business. And yeah, to give an idea of what standing firm was like:

When Applejack uses it the first time in battle, she gets rammed in the face by a World Snake that a fan calculated was the size of Guam. The Snake bounces.

Earth ponies can do any magic as long as they don't think about it.

How else can you explain AJ's apparently prehensile tail?

It's pronounced "Te-ah-low-ve"

I've always thought Pinkies abilities were what Earth pony magic is like when it's focused on parties instead of something more "earthy". So presumably, Earth pony magic does stuff on the same scale as that, but subtler.

I just hope they come up with a better antagonist than Nightmare Moon.

She lasted what? Seven minutes?

What other good names could be Pony?

  • Banana Splits
  • Cadmium Red

Not really related, but "Banana Splits" put "Wait 'Til Tomorrow" in my head.

I had brewed "Winter Bells" for the pony who brings Christmas to Ponyville in a Christmas Episode that doesn't exist. (I know, it sounds stupid, but I like how absurd it is.)

This is why Applejack is the best pony.

Doublepost because my favorite character has a rather promising-looking ask blog up now.

...there were at least three up before, two drawing blogs and one roleplaying blog, all of them pretty good... I don't really like the art style on this one, hoenstly.

I looked through the second one.

I immediately thought of Shrek.

Also, I like the art style on the newer one.

Yeah I hope we get to see something badass related to Earth Ponies.
With only four of them, you can pull a loaded train at speeds that trains are normally supposed to run at (that is to say, really fast)! That's pretty badass.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...

Huh...I wonder if magic could ever compound. Like, how Geth in Mass effect become smarter by having more nearby, can ponies be more magical by having others of the same breed nearby? It would sort of explain the train thing - four naturally powerful earth ponies working in conjunction can move fast than any one pony should be able to move on land - and how a few pegasi can wing-flap an entire sky of clouds away.

I'd love to see what unicorns could do if they blended their magic. I can just imagine four or five old unicorn wizards, giving some monster some serious things to think about.

[up] That could explain how those 4 earth ponies could pull an entire fucking train in Over A Barrel

I wonder why Blueblood isn't an Alicorn.

Actually, I wonder why there are no other alicorns at all, Celestia clearly has relatives. Is the alicorn gene so recessive that it never survives an attempt at crossbreeding with another pony type?

[up]Blueblood is not Celestria true nephew.

I have question: Alicornd can be similar to normal ponies (in size) or only like Celestria/Luna: tall, slender ponies?
They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

[up] Well we haven't seen any others so we can't really answer that. I'm inclined to think that their all big like Celestia, if indeed there are any others.

Where did the name come from anyway?

My teory is that Alicorns were normal sized ponies, well precursor ponies, they crossbreed with other race/species of precursor ponies who were normal but magic less ponies what resulted with 3 races of Pegasus , Unicorn and Earth Ponies. Those precursors ponies died out.

And Celestra/Luna are not only Alicorns but also goldlike being what make them look diffrent. Or maybe they are related to horses.
