There is a possibility that if he's a shape shifter the mane cast may not identify him right away.

Of course we still don't know how he will be but I'm personally holding out for a pony version of Nyarlathotep from Persona 2, because. . .why not?!

I'm still holding out for pony Johan. He'll appear to be a friendly, kind, honest pony who helps out the mane cast, but slowly tries to sow distrust amongst the group.

Fighting is Magic stream is over by the way, only really new things they showed were new Palette Swaps for Applejack (Cheerilee and a blue recolor that makes her look like Trixie) and Twilight (Rapidash).

Twilight still looks ridiculous fighting with her laser book. Ridiculously awesome.

Well they're suppose to have that 'connection to the earth', whatever that means. I always took it as: Unicorns have active magic, magic that must be activated by force of will. Pegasi have kinetic, or physical magic, magic activated by a physical action (kicking clouds to make thunder, for example), and Earth ponies have passive magic, maybe something like taking strength from the earth, or creating a network between all living things in an area to 'share power'. I think it was 'it's dangerous business, going out your door' that posited something to the effect of it's impossible to kill an earth pony on equestrian soil.
