I still think that giving one of the CMC's their CM would be a good way of handling things. Just because one of them gets it figured out doesn't mean that the others will; they're around other ponies with CM's who have tried to explain how it works and have gotten nowhere. The way I see, one of them will get their CM, and be unable to explain it to the others, who still don't get the point. Hopefully they'd all figure it out by the end of the episode though, or else it would just be a Shaggy Dog Story.

I still hate that idea. That would be bad episode plot, some MLPFIM could work hard to make this ep good.

I just hope a villain takes advantage of their desire for Cutie marks. Even if it´s not done via any of the ways we´ve been describing.

Yeah, I´m no writer so Í´m sure they can come up with better ideas than me. It´s just they have such an incredibly exploitative trait which would be perfect for a vilain to use

@Death Cloud: I still don't understand why you hate that idea so much. I can see why you might not like that sort of plot, but there's nothing objectively bad about the idea. I think it would be a good way to create tension within the group and give them something to do other than do random stuff to try to get their cutie marks.

No it not perfect or logical way to do this. That would be end of their crusading (real CM) or another crazy CMC adventure (fake CM), but it would never be good cause of tension between them or way to prove that they are more just CM obsesed club.

You guys realize that originally it was just going to be Apple Bloom on a quest for her Cutie Mark? We'd just be getting Apple Bloom episodes instead of CMC episodes.

I don't mind really, its kinda nice to have a break from the mane cast every now and then.

I love the CMC, but I do understand what people mean when they call them Flat characters

Ok, tell me, other than the fact that you personally enjoy them, what is it about the CMC that makes them strong characters?

As a person who loves them deeply, I can agree that their single minded quest for their cutie marks can sometimes be tiring, and we haven´t seen them interact in many ways other than those which are crusader related. (other than maybe Show Stoppers) I understand that the CMC would irritate people based on these traits.

I like the CMC and think they're fine as long as they remain peripheral characters who occasionally get A Day in the Limelight episodes. Their perpetual cluelessness about getting cutie marks should not be a focus, but it should instead be on their camaraderie as they find their marks. "Stare Master" was, IMO, a very good example of how to use the CMC properly in a starring role — three CRAZY kids driving everypony nuts as they go about their crusade.

Just wondering: My sister was talking to me just now, and she mentioned that according to her; Rarity and Applejack are not actually friends, and they stay together purely because of Twilight. I don´t agree with her, but what do you think? How good are Applejack and Rarity as friends?

Before "Look Before You Sleep", probably not very much. By the time of "Best Night Ever", where Applejack is willing to give free food to Rarity cause she's having an awful date, I'd say they're best buds.

^Yeah, there's definitely some character development there. I imagine they only put up with each other for Twilight's sake in the beginning (which fits in with Rarity's annoyance with Applejack during the first part of "Over A Barrel", now that I think of it, and definitely "Think Before You Sleep"), but by the time of the Gala, yeah, they're close friends.

I'd like to see an episode or two featuring cast combinations we didn't really get last season. "Dragonshy" was the closest we got to an Applejack-Fluttershy episode, and I'm not sure we got an Applejack-Pinkie episode at all. Speaking of Pinkie, it'd be nice to see her get some more development too - not by depressing her again, obviously, but by seeing if there's more to her than just laughter. "Party of One" was interesting for that, Pinkamina aside, since it showed that she does actually get tired and isn't (just) a reality-warping superpony all the time.
