Some Fluttershy fanart I recently drew. I suck at backgrounds...

Speaking of character development and several things have crossed my mind...

1. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash - There's no doubt the two have known each other the longest, but why would she stick up for Fluttershy when bullied when they were fillies? I would've expected her to have joined in on it, although neither of the two seem to enjoy the bullies anyway. Doesn't help that this is the usual Tomboy and Girly Girl pair...they're probably used each others quirks by now, but still...

2. Fluttershy and Rarity - Exactly how long have the two known each other, anyway? Rarity seems very social (Not to the degree Pinkie Pie is though) and Fluttershy...no comment. I mean, yeah, they have a similar interest in fashion, but I felt the relationship between those two could've been explored further.

With regards to Dash and FS.

Maybe it's a case of an enemy of my enemies is a friend of mine? They were both picked on by the bullies, and this gave them enough common ground to start hanging out together and eventually become friends?

Also, RD may be a bit of a jerk sometimes, but I can't see her ever going out of her way to properly bully others. The ep with Gilda reinforces that in my mind.

And with regards to FS and Rarity;

FS with good with the cat, seems to know a bit about fashion, and I think she likes tea. Rarity probably likes tea too. That's enough in common to be friends I think.

Also, despite Rainbow Dash sticking up for her, I doubt they hung out much after that. Fluttershy had no idea how the race ended, and I imagine if they did hang out she would have heard plenty of boasting from RD about the Sonic Rainboom.

Maybe Rainbow Dash stood up for Fluttershy so she could get away with picking a fight and looking like a hero while doing it, too. It would certainly fit her competitive nature.

Nah I really think that Rainbow Dash was protecting fluttershy, the race stuff came up later.

Dash had been picked on before, remember "Rainbow Crash?" If she sees somone else getting teased it's not surprising at all she would stand up for them.

Besides, could you honestly not see yourself sticking up for 'shy, if you were there?

I know exactly what you mean. When I saw what Gilda did to her, I immediately wanted to dig a nice big six foot deep gryphon hole.

Essentially, Rainbow Dash doesn't like dicks.

Ever since Cutie Mark Chronicles I imagined Fluttershy & RD as Heterosexual Life Partners, and at some point while visiting the ground Fluttershy met and befriended Rarity, which led to Fluttershy deciding to move to Ponyville and drag Rainbow Dash along with her.

How do you explain her time with the two Wonder Bolts then?

Also, your theory of FS and RD's relationship and they came to Ponyville is Cannon in my mind now.

Edit: Could they have been room mates back in Cloudsdale? That might be funny.

I'm not sure how likely some of those are.

I don't like the odds of any possible winning combination.

Row 4 and column 2 both seem possible, even almost probable, but they've both got something that's specific enough to make me hesitate. Row 3 my mind interprets as three free spaces followed by two things that seem almost mutually exclusive, since they're both a repetition of thematically-similar events from season 1. Everything else... I just wouldn't count on.

Also, row 1 column 2: Baa.
