They should have realised from the Cutie Mark Chronicles that you need to embrace what you enjoy doing. The point is that Scoot, Applebloom and Sweetie genuinely seem clueless. Even if Apple Bloom did get hers first and told the others how the process works first hand, there´s no guarentee that their marks would appear. It´s the sort of thing that hapens when it´s ready, it can´t be forced, not by any other pony, up to and including your friends. The mane cast understood that.

That´s why I think my idea of a villain-induced cutie mark is better than if one of the CMC actually got their mark first. It allows you to have all the drama, and the test of friendship, without actually raising any of the problems that you mentioned

how else? The cutie mark is the big one. As things stand right now, we don´t know if they really are friends, or if they´re just pooling their efforts to reach the same end.

What do they do together? Try to find their cutie marks. That´s their ONLY defining trait at the moment. That element needs to be adressed, and overcome if anything else is going to be done with them as characters. (as in, we need to show that there´s more to em than just the crusading.)

I liked Appblebloom most in Bridle Gossip, to be honest.

Alternatively, an antagonist slaps a fake mark on one of them. It is not a Cutie Mark - just a drawing on their butt. But her friends don't believe that it's not real, bug her about how she got it and become alienated when she "hides" it from them.

NO. I don't think fake CM would work , not only because it may be imposible to do slap something in that place but also fake CM could not break CMC.

Geting real CM could cause other to get one because they would undertand how it work. But if one get fake CM she could not know why and what is it (what it represent) and she with other two would try find this out, so they propably spend much time studing this fake CM and filly having it , using same "scientific" metods what Twilight use in FPK. Now I don't think that fake CM could even be danger to CMC friendship, but it's good, interesting and funny idea for CMC episode.

You know what would really suck? If the CMC saved the day and got their cutie marks - only to realize that means their special talent is "stopping Discord", sending them into an existential crisis as they are now without a purpose until he manages to break free again.

I think the problem I have with CMC episodes is that when you get right down to it, both of them are basically just Call of the Cutie again, except with 3 characters instead of 1.

I wonder if there are any ponies in Equestria who lack Cutie Marks? Like they´ve never ever had a purpose in life

CMC , Show Stopers and Stare Master don't look for me like copy of Call of Cutie.

Their crusading is most time just exuse for real episode plot.

There are some blank flanks, but their CM are invisible because the Ninjas!

Cloud has a point. I´ll say that Show Stoppers is probably their most generic episode (but who cares their anthem is awesome) but most of the time the CMC work as a catalyst for the real point of the episode

Show Stopers is not generic episode or copy of Co C. This episode exlore CMC characters and show us some importand things about them (like their talents)
