Anyway, if you're used to Joker-types, she's really not all that scary. She just did something monstrous once, when she snapped, and, having gone over the Moral Event Horizon in her own eyes, she takes Refuge in Audacity, i.e. escapes forward, by drowning herself in evil until oblivion takes her, or someone stops her, probably by killing her, and releases her from her pain. Her helper, wosshisname, seems to have a benefic effect on her, since he doesn't judge her and accepts her as she is, which may lead to her herself feeling okay with what she has become. Not sure if it's good for us, but it's good for her. Either way, I see no salvation but in extreme nihilism.

The one quote I keep thinking about a MLP version of is one from a show I haven't followed in years.

"From the beginning, nopony has stood at the top. Neither you, nor me, nor the Princesses..."

(...that guy is a terrible voice actor. It probably has something to do with not being from Canada.)

To be honest, I hardly connect Ask Pinkamena to the series. I kind of view it as a separate entity, maybe an alternate continuity at most. The Pinkamena in the blog isn't that much like the Pinkamena in the series anyway

And yes, compared to characters like the Joker (especially Heath Ledgers' Joker), Pinkamena's pretty tame

The way I see it, canon Pinkamena was schizophrenic and delusional and loud, where Ask Pinkamena is pretty quiet and seems to have a good enough grasp on reality. Not to mention, y'know, canon Pinkamena doesn't like to chop people up

(Y'know, I have a pretty good feeling that Pinkamena and the Joker would get along pretty well. Heath Ledgers' Joker anyway, most other depictions would probably be a bit too upbeat for her)

I kinda enjoy it, but it doesn't feel at all like the source material. Like, I read it and it feels like I'm reading an original work, not a fan thing. So I like it, but I can hardly consider it MLP; it's just too divorced from the source material.

I think that's how most of us treat it anyway. An almost-original work severely divorced from the original.

Maybe that's my problem. I have trouble disconnecting it from the source material because it involves what I see to be an alternate version of Pinkie Pie.

And for the record, I'm not much a fan of the Joker, either, save for the lighter and softer version from The Brave and the Bold. I'm probably one of the few people that wish Batman would have let Joker fall to his death the same way he let Ra's die in the train crash.

Okay, even for this fandom, that's just bizarre.

Truth be told, I think a large part of why I like Ask Pinkamena but I don't like Cupcakes is because the former feels so removed from the source work. I almost don't think of Ask Pinkamena as Pinkie Pie.

The more I hear about Discord as an entity, the more I can't stop thinking about that Dissidia Ponydecim fanart someone linked to a while ago.

I think that might be why I hate Cupcakes and like Ask Pinkamena too. Besides the fact that Ask Pinkamena (the character) is way more likeable than Cupcakes Pinkie
