My only complaint is that these episodes aren't longer. By the time Twilight starts investigating I'm wishing the episode isn't already most of the way over. Maybe we could get a more complicated mystery than "Aha, the blue feather means it was Rainbow Dash!"

@Story: That, and the fact that (spoilered because apparently L Mage is watching it now) it's a bit OOC for Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash to ruin the cake like that when they know it's really important. But other than that, any complaints come down to personal preference things. I mean yeah, I'd have liked AJ to do more, but whether or not I like a character has no real bearing on how good the episode is.

I liked Over A Barrel, especially the first half. Of course, I'm biased since it's the episode that got me hooked in the first place.

Also, I didn't notice Rarity's hair either.

Saw the episode, I usually find mystery plots rather corny, this one isn't an exception, but it was still decent. The Guztov Imagine Spot made the episode.

I agree it was a shame AJ was the only pony not doing anything again (par maybe that earlier grab for the cake, perhaps a tease to the culprit) then again the other three ponies' being responsible seemed a bit shoehorned in anyway, par maybe Rarity, who makes a great 'melodramatic culprit'. I also kinda wished the whole mystery got more crazy, like one of Pinkie's deranged assumptions actually being true or something.

@ginger: Personally I prefer Twilight being smug or snarky when she's right, it gives her quirks while still being The Straight Man (who are usually boring characters).

I agree Pinkie getting an Aesop kinda worked, I just thought the plot may have worked better if it got more deranged, that was just an example of how it could have been so.

I suspect the moral pinkie pie gets from this episode will come up in the finale. Assuming, of course, that the finale is not just one big setup of over the top sequences of action and drama.

I'm forgiving of a small bit of smugness when a character does something that warrants it, but if it lasts more than a few seconds it gets really annoying.

Worse than murder?
